Job description

JAS is an international, non-asset-based supply chain services and solutions company. Our services include air and ocean freight forwarding, contract logistics, customs brokerage, distribution, inbound logistics, truckload brokerage and other supply chain management services, including consulting, the coordination of purchase orders and customized management services.

The Corporate Compliance Coordinator supports various aspects of import and/or export customs compliance, including training and operational support across all Company import/export functions. This position requires knowledge and understanding of compliance regulations related to agencies such as CBP, FDA, AES, TSA, Census, and BIS, ensuring JAS operations meet all regulatory and internal requirements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide training on operational compliance processes and procedures for employees.
  • Support operations personnel on compliance-related processes, including but not limited to POA, AMS, and ISF filing.
  • Conduct internal audits and review reports to ensure adherence to regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of proper compliance processes to resolve issues in accordance with industry standards.
  • Review and recommend improvements to procedures for increased efficiency and compliance.
  • Assist employees and teams in resolving compliance-related issues.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Prepare and monitor compliance and management reports.
  • Perform other duties as required and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Licensed Customs Broker or Customs Certified Specialist (CCS) preferred
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to analyze regulations, write reports, and effectively present information.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in international freight forwarding with a strong compliance background.
  • Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding, including Incoterms, Harmonized Tariff Schedule, customs regulations, and other government requirements.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; additional education a plus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • 100% performed in a climate-controlled office environment under normal working conditions.
  • May require occasional travel in support of compliance initiatives.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, talk, and hear. May occasionally need to stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds.
