About Waterworth

Waterworth is a scaling SaaS company known for utility financial planning, located in Victoria, BC. We empower more than 400 municipalities across North America to take control of their financial futures through proprietary financial modelling and analysis software.

We embrace the philosophy that "the best idea wins," which entails having robust execution plans to support those ideas. This approach creates an environment where everyone feels comfortable sharing their strategies.

We are looking for an articulate communicator with an understanding of accounting or finance who wants to apply themselves. This role goes beyond "customer support", which is typically limited to instructing customers how to use a tool and checking in for the sake of checking.

The Role

We believe in a proactive approach to Client Success. This means collaborating closely with communities to navigate complex challenges without causing an affordability and inequity crisis.

Our training program provides you with in-depth insights into municipal government, financial management, SaaS, and Client Success. Rest assured, you won't feel out of your element; we are committed to supporting your development at every stage, with regular check-ins designed to help you thrive.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Onboarding

Utilizing Excel to extract, transform, and load financial, utility, and infrastructure data from local governments into Waterworth. Initiatives for data automation are highly encouraged!

Financial Forecasting

Use your accounting fundamentals and domain knowledge to build and calibrate forward-looking financial models that turn data into visual stories.

Strategic Advising

Support community growth by partnering with City Managers, Finance Directors, and Public Works Directors (our "Waterworth Champions") to deliver critical insights for their long-term strategic planning.

This includes conducting live online presentations for councils, boards, and the public to aid in informed decision-making.

Build Meaningful Relationships:

Earn trust and credibility as a go-to advisor for senior municipal leaders. Your consistency, integrity, and insight will form the backbone of lasting partnerships.

Requirements

Accounting & Financial Acumen

Understand key accounting/finance concepts and you’re excited to apply that knowledge to real-world challenges in public sector contexts.

Proficient in Excel

Must be able to demonstrate experience using spreadsheets to analyze data and build models. Candidates will be tested on their Excel skills during the interview process.

Confident Communicator

Experience in presenting complex data insights with clarity to key stakeholders.

Growth Mindset

Demonstrated a commitment to continuous learning from each challenge faced. A "Win or Learn" mindset is the standard here.

Effective Team Player

Worked in a cross-functional environment, with a collaborative approach to solving business problems.
