Job description

At Zelis, we Get Stuff Done. So, let's get to it!

A Little About Us

Zelis is modernizing the healthcare financial experience across payers, providers, and healthcare consumers. We serve more than 750 payers, including the top five national health plans, regional health plans, TPAs and millions of healthcare providers and consumers across our platform of solutions. Zelis sees across the system to identify, optimize, and solve problems holistically with technology built by healthcare experts - driving real, measurable results for clients.

At Zelis, AI is woven into the fabric of how we work. Every associate is expected - and empowered - to partner with AI to challenge the status quo, accelerate innovation, and amplify their impact. This is a place for builders with a growth mindset who act with agility, embrace change, and use modern technology to shape smarter solutions, exceptional experiences, and the future of our industry for our clients, customers, and our culture.

A Little About You

You bring a unique blend of personality and professional expertise to your work, inspiring others with your passion and dedication. Your career is a testament to your diverse experiences, community involvement, and the valuable lessons you've learned along the way. You are more than just your resume; you are a reflection of your achievements, the knowledge you've gained, and the personal interests that shape who you are.

Position Overview

This role sets the technical direction for the Price Optimization business unit's unified platform strategy as we evolve from siloed products and services into integrated customer solutions. You will lead solution and platform architecture across the business unit, defining scalable, reusable patterns that unify experiences, capabilities, and data across offerings.
As a senior technical leader, you will partner closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Data, Security, and Enterprise Architecture to shape end-to-end solutions that improve customer outcomes, accelerate delivery, and strengthen platform consistency. This role requires deep Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management expertise, strong AWS architecture experience, strong UI architecture experience, and hands-on leadership in applying AI and AI-native software delivery practices.

What You'll Do

Lead architecture for the Price Optimization business unit's unified platform, aligning business capabilities, shared services, and customer-facing solutions into a cohesive technology strategy.

Define end-to-end solution architectures that break down product silos and enable the business unit to deliver integrated solutions instead of disconnected products or services.

Establish reusable architecture patterns, reference designs, and golden paths spanning UI, application, integration, data, AI, and cloud infrastructure layers.

Partner with Product and business leaders to translate customer and market needs into scalable platform capabilities and solution roadmaps.

Drive architecture for modern AWS-based solutions, including microservices, event-driven systems, APIs, serverless components, and resilient distributed application patterns.

Lead UI architecture and front-end strategy for unified customer and internal user experiences, including shared design patterns, component reuse, accessibility, responsiveness, performance, and experience consistency across solutions.

Architect integrations across internal platforms, partner ecosystems, workflow tools, data services, and external client environments to support seamless solution delivery.

Apply deep Healthcare RCM expertise to solution design across pricing, payments, claims, reimbursement, provider-payer workflows, analytics, and operational processes.

Drive AI adoption within products, platforms, and engineering workflows, identifying where AI can improve customer outcomes, internal efficiency, decision support, automation, and user experience.

Champion AI-native SDLC practices, including AI-assisted design, code generation, testing, documentation, quality engineering, delivery automation, and developer productivity improvements with strong governance.

Define standards for observability, resilience, security, compliance, and operational readiness across solution and platform implementations.

Mentor engineering and architecture teams, raising the bar on solution thinking, technical design quality, and cross-team collaboration.

Partner cross-functionally with Security, Infrastructure, Enterprise Architecture, Product Management, UX, Data, and Operations to ensure cohesive execution and long-term platform integrity.

What You'll Bring to Zelis

Experience and leadership: Typically BS plus 15 years or MS plus 12 years (or equivalent), with a strong track record leading complex enterprise architecture and solution design initiatives across multiple teams and domains.

Healthcare RCM expertise: Deep experience in healthcare revenue cycle management, including strong understanding of payer-provider workflows, pricing, claims, reimbursement, payments, and related operational and business processes.

Solution architecture depth: Proven ability to architect complex, enterprise-grade solutions that span business capabilities, platforms, data, integrations, and customer-facing applications.

AWS expertise: Strong hands-on architecture experience with AWS services and cloud-native patterns across compute, storage, networking, security, identity, integration, and observability.

UI architecture strength: Demonstrated success designing scalable, modern front-end and user experience architectures, including shared component strategies, front-end performance, usability, and cross-application consistency.

Platform mindset: Experience defining reusable capabilities, shared services, common patterns, and platform strategies that reduce duplication and accelerate delivery across multiple solution areas.

AI and AI-native SDLC fluency: Hands-on experience using AI tools and embedding AI into the software development lifecycle, including engineering productivity, automated testing, documentation, code quality, and delivery workflows.

Modern engineering practices: Strong knowledge of APIs, microservices, event-driven design, distributed systems, DevOps, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, and secure software delivery practices.

Security and compliance awareness: Experience designing secure, resilient, and compliant healthcare technology solutions with strong operational controls and governance.

Communication and influence: Ability to influence senior technical and business stakeholders, drive alignment across organizations, and communicate architectural vision clearly to executive and delivery audiences.

Collaboration and mentoring: Proven ability to coach engineers and architects, foster cross-functional collaboration, and balance strategic direction with pragmatic execution.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in healthcare payments, pricing optimization, cost containment, or adjacent financial and administrative healthcare solutions.

Experience designing unified digital platforms that bring together multiple legacy products or services into a cohesive solution offering.

Experience with AI-enabled product features, agent-based workflows, or intelligent automation in enterprise software environments.

Familiarity with enterprise design systems, UX governance, and scalable front-end engineering models.

Experience working in highly matrixed environments requiring close coordination with enterprise shared services and business unit delivery teams.
