Job Summary

The Lead Ramp Agent oversees ramp operations, ensuring safe and efficient aircraft handling, baggage loading, and ground support services. This role provides guidance to ramp agents, assigns tasks, and ensures compliance with safety regulations and airline procedures. While not a disciplinary role, the Lead serves as a key point of contact for operational efficiency and issue resolution.

This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Compliance with all safety and security protocols is essential.

**This job is covered by a collective bargaining agreement of the Transport Workers Union (TWU), a labor union that requires joining the TWU and paying union dues.**

Compensation

$16 per hour + $1 Lead Pay. Part-time

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and support ramp agents in daily operations.
  • Train and demonstrate proper work and safety procedures.
  • Assign and schedule work tasks to maintain efficiency.
  • Monitor and analyze work methods and outcomes.
  • Identify and report operational issues to management.
  • Assist in the effective use of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with site security procedures.
  • Report security breaches, suspicious activity, or policy violations.
Minimum Requirements
  • HS Diploma, GED or Equivalent.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid US driver's license.
  • Ability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience as a Ramp Agent or in a similar airline ground operations role.
  • Proficiency in using airline operations or baggage tracking systems.
  • Familiarity with airline safety regulations, ground handling procedures, and aircraft servicing.
  • Ability to adapt to changing operational needs and work under pressure.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to train and mentor team members effectively.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move items weighing up to 70 lbs consistently.
  • Capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in outdoor environments, including exposure to extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.).
  • Ability to work in a high-noise environment with proper hearing protection.
  • Must be able to climb, reach, and work in confined spaces as required.
