Job description

Position Title: Logistics Support Specialist

Position Reports to: Logistics Manager


Position Summary: Under general supervision, solicits freight from logistics customers to move nationwide; handles all processes for moving a brokered load from pick-up to delivery; and works with other departments as needed in order to provide complete service to customers.


Essential Functions:


  1. Serves as support to carriers and customers in order to meet expectations of both parties; maintains flow of communication between drivers, West Side and customers; and works to resolve issues that come up during transit to ensure each load is delivered on-time and in the condition it was intended to be. Escalate to management if issues arise.
  1. Processes loads from the time of receipt from customer to the time of delivery; enters and updates necessary, load information into computer system at time of receipt from customer to keep records accurate; Maintains accurate tracking and tracing and entering the information on all loads moving through the Logistics Division..
  1. Report accessorial charges incurred during the completion of a shipment to the covering broker, appropriate CSR & accounting department.
  1. Works with Customer Service Department and updates any load to Customer Service of any load that is not picking up or delivering per Customers request
  1. Responsible for entering detail notes on all loads and updating at the close of business of any loads that are not meeting customer’s expectations. Compile any information in email and update nights and on call team
  1. Provide additional information that may be gathered through track & trace conversations with the carriers to the respective brokers. Information gathered such as available trucks and consistent lane needs.

7. Performs other related duties as requested.


Necessary Qualifications: One-year experience required in the area of Logistics/Customer Service in the transportation industry or related field; AS/400 experience preferred; ability to type 40 w.p.m. preferred; excellent customer service and communication skills required.

Physical Qualifications: Sitting, talking on the phone and entering data into the computer for extended periods of time required.

Mental Qualifications: Requires ability to analyze data, coordinate multiple tasks, process information quickly and accurately, recall details and carryout responsibilities based on those details.
