Job description

This is a hands-on Program Manager role for someone who is energized by owning outcomes, creating structure, and driving execution in complex, fast-moving environments. At AMS, programs do not always begin with perfect data, stable suppliers, or simple schedules. This role will step into active work that may include open orders, incomplete technical data, supplier constraints, and customers who expect reliable delivery. The Program Manager's responsibility is to bring clarity, accountability, and momentum where those conditions do not naturally exist. This role sits at the center of program execution and is accountable for ensuring quality, schedule, and cost targets are met across assigned programs-not only by tracking performance, but by driving the actions required to achieve results. This position is based in Torrance, CA and will report to the Program Director.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Develop comprehensive project plans incorporating supplier and internal manufacturing schedules, logistics timelines, quality control, testing, customer inspections, and billing requirements.
• Own program financial performance by developing revenue forecasts, monitoring margin objectives, tracking material and labor expenditures, managing cash flow impacts, and ensuring alignment between program execution, supplier commitments, customer invoicing, and overall business objectives
• Assign tasks and responsibilities to project personnel; lead cross-functional teams through all phases of project lifecycle.
• Apply a strong understanding of transition-to-production processes, including deviation and waiver procedures and the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process.
• Develop and manage an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) to align program timelines, resources, dependencies, and deliverables.
• Understand the full product lifecycle for build-to-print manufacturing programs.
• Monitor production schedules to ensure that deadlines are met, and progress remains on track.
• Coordinate with vendors to guarantee timely delivery of products in the correct quantities and in compliance with quality standards.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with subcontractors and vendors to support customer requests, including expedited shipments when required.
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams to manage Technical Data Packages and related engineering processes.
• Ensure customer requirements are met and manage stakeholder expectations through clear and consistent communication.
• Identify and resolve project issues by conferring with team members and stakeholders.
• Prepare and deliver clear program and project status presentations for stakeholders, leadership, and project teams.
• Develop repeatable project plans and checklists to streamline the implementation of new strategic stocking partnerships.
• Implement and manage risk registers for open licensing orders and other assigned programs.
• Monitor team performance and provide constructive feedback to support development and accountability.
• Create professional, user-friendly project communications for distribution to employees, clients, and suppliers.
Requirements
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Adobe Acrobat.
• Experience using project management software such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or a similar tool.
• Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
• Proven track record of successful project delivery from start to finish
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems - preferably Microsoft Dynamics Business Central
• Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with the ability to drive positive outcomes across manufacturing projects.
• Foundational understanding of finance and project financials, with the ability to make informed decisions that affect program cost, margin, and overall project health.
Preferred Capabilities
• Background implementing or managing continuous improvement processes.
• Knowledge of quality assurance or Quality Management System (QMS) practices.
Work Experience and Education
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in an aerospace manufacturing or engineering environment, including 2+ years in project or program management.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Ability to work on-site in Torrance, CA
