Progress Street Builders

Custom Home Project Superintendent

Location: Lynchburg, VA

Build Beautiful Custom Homes -- Lead the Jobsite with Confidence.

Progress Street Builders is an award-winning custom home builder serving Virginia homeowners through a thoughtful, organized, and client-focused building experience. From one-of-a-kind custom homes to curated custom designs, our team is committed to turning each client's vision into a high-quality forever home.

Progress Street Builders is hiring a Construction Project Superintendent to oversee day-to-day activity on residential custom home jobsites in the Lynchburg area. This is a field-based leadership role for someone who understands construction, can coordinate people and details, and knows how to keep projects moving with professionalism and accountability.

The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, a confident jobsite leader, and someone who can guide crews, subcontractors, and vendors while maintaining Progress Street Builders' standards for quality, schedule, safety, and client experience. This is not a lead carpenter role, but candidates with strong carpentry or field leadership backgrounds who are ready to move into a management-focused position are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Spend the majority of time on active jobsites overseeing daily construction activity
  • Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, deliveries, materials, and project details
  • Help crews understand scope, sequencing, quality expectations, and how their work impacts the overall project
  • Maintain clean, organized, safe, and professional jobsites
  • Monitor progress, identify issues, and communicate updates to the project team
  • Support a high-quality client experience through professionalism, preparation, and follow-through
  • Step in with light hands-on support when needed, while remaining primarily focused on supervision and coordination

Qualifications

  • Residential construction experience required; custom home building experience preferred
  • Prior experience as a site supervisor, superintendent, project manager, construction manager, lead carpenter, or similar field leadership role
  • Strong understanding of construction sequencing, trades, materials, and jobsite coordination
  • Ability to lead people, give clear direction, and hold teams accountable
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Professional, dependable, and comfortable representing the company on client-facing projects
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to jobsites as needed

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-Time. W-2 Employment
  • Salary range: $70,000-$80,000 per year
  • Two weeks of PTO earned during the first year
  • Healthcare coverage with the company paying 75% of the employee's premium
  • Simple IRA with dollar-for-dollar company match up to 3% of annual salary
  • Mileage reimbursement for approved job-related travel

Why Progress Street Builders

At Progress Street Builders, you will be part of a team known for crafting beautiful custom homes and delivering a strong, organized building experience. This is a great opportunity for a construction professional who wants to lead from the field, work on meaningful residential projects, and grow with a company that values craftsmanship, communication, and accountability. If you are ready to guide high-quality custom home projects and take ownership of the jobsite experience, this role could be a strong fit.

Progress Street Builders encourages applications from qualified candidates of all backgrounds and experiences.
