Direct Reports: None
Works with and accountable to: Site Managers, Project Managers, Foremen, and other trades
Primary Role: Deliver clean, accurate, high-end residential finish carpentry that supports PBI's core value "BUILT Accountable" through quality craftsmanship, efficient execution, and job-ready communication.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Hang, fit, adjust, and hardware interior doors to operate cleanly and align with project specifications.
  • Read plans, finish schedules, shop drawings, and details; confirm unclear items before work begins.
  • Measure, cut, cope, miter, scribe, fasten, and finish materials to a luxury residential standard.
  • Identify field issues early and coordinate solutions with the Site Manager or Project Manager before they affect quality or schedule.
  • Help with other job-related activities with the other craftsman members.

Tools, Materials, and Job Readiness
  • Arrive prepared with required personal hand tools, PPE, and appropriate work attire.
  • Verify tools, hardware, trim, doors, shelving, and specialty materials are ready before starting assigned work.
  • Use company sign-out procedures for shop tools and materials; return items clean and accounted for.
  • Protect installed finishes, flooring, cabinetry, doors, and client-owned surfaces during work.
  • Notify the Site Manager in advance when materials, hardware, or supplies are missing or running low.

Quality Control and Jobsite Cleanliness
  • Inspect completed work for alignment, tight joints, clean reveals, secure fastening, and readiness for paint or final finish.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area throughout the day and leave the jobsite swept before departure.
  • Return extra materials to the shop or designated storage area unless directed otherwise.
  • Report completed work to the Site Manager or Foreman for review; communicate immediately if a task cannot be completed as scheduled.

Required Experience and Skills
  • Experience - Minimum 5 years of residential finish carpentry experience; luxury custom home experience preferred.
  • Finish Carpentry - Strong ability to install trim, casing, base, crown, doors, hardware, closet systems, shelving, built-ins, and detailed millwork.

  • Precision - Advanced measuring, layout, cutting, coping, scribing, and installation skills with high attention to detail.
  • Tool Proficiency - Safe, efficient use of finish carpentry hand tools, miter saws, table saws, routers, planers, sanders, nailers, and related equipment.

  • Efficiency - Ability to plan work, reduce rework, protect completed finishes, and keep tasks moving without sacrificing quality.
  • Communication - Professional communication with Site Managers, Project Managers, Foremen, subcontractors, and clients when needed.
  • Safety - Consistent use of PPE and safe work practices around tools, ladders, scaffolding, and occupied or near-finished homes.
  • Team - You're a member of the craftsman team. Get along with the other craftsman and help with other job-related activities. If this isn't you, then please don't apply.

Physical Requirements and Schedule:
  • Ability to lift and carry materials, doors, trim packages, tools, and equipment as required.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, work overhead, and perform detailed finish work throughout an 8-hour day.
