Job Summary

The Graham Center is currently seeking a Temporary Custodial Worker to join their team of professionals.

This position will provide custodial services and maintenance support to the following areas: Outdoor seating areas; main entrances; exterior walkways; GC Food Courts and interior seating areas; Mini-Mall Corridor; Ballrooms, Faculty Club, restrooms, classrooms, and offices.

Duties include:

  • Cleans restrooms using approved chemical cleaners and disinfectants. Tends to sink, counters, mirrors, toilet and urinal fixtures, toilet partitions, walls, and floors. Replenishes restroom supplies: toilet tissue, paper towels, toilet seat covers, hand soap, hand sanitizer, and fragrance dispensers. Disposes of trash and replenishes the receptacles plastic liners.
  • Supports the event production effort by performing the physical setup of tables, chairs, stages, podiums, ceremonial flags, ice carts, pitchers of iced water, and other production requirements, in accordance with provided oral and written instructions. Provides and installs tablecloths and table skirting, as needed. Removes decorations and adhesive tapes after events.
  • Cleans classrooms and meeting rooms: Dusts tables, chairs, podiums, and other furnishings. Cleans blackboards and whiteboards and their erasers. Disposes of trash and replenishes the receptacles plastic liners. Vacuum cleans carpets and mops hard floors.
  • Cleans common area corridors and lounges to include tables, chairs, water fountains, picture frames, and other furnishings. Spot cleans carpets and upholstery, as needed. Vacuum cleans carpeted areas and cleans hard floors. Disposes of trash and replenishes the plastic liners.
  • Cleans event spaces and their adjacent prep areas (kitchenettes and serveries) to include vacuuming and shampooing carpets, mopping hard floors, disposal of trash and replenishing plastic liners.
  • Provides building maintenance support to include light bulbs and lamp changes, replacing batteries of restroom fixtures and wall clocks, unclogging drains with plunger, and replacing ceiling tiles. Performs routine care procedures for maintaining vacuum cleaners and cleaning equipment.
  • Operates floor and carpet cleaning machines in accordance with operations manual and equipment care procedures.
  • Supports the building safety procedures and protocols. Participates in the emergency evacuation of occupants, in accordance with assigned duties. Keeps areas free on slippery conditions and tackling tripping hazards.
  • Assists with laundering mop heads, cleaning rags and towels, tablecloths, and table skirting, to include washing, drying, folding, and storing or hanging of laundered items.
  • Performs essential duties during any emergencies, such as hurricanes, storms and/or any other University emergency closing.
  • Is expected to be available to report to work, as needed, during university emergency closings with appropriate notification by department administrator.
