This position is ideal for a safety professional with multiple years of experience, strong presentation skills, and subject matter expertise in safety, training, and quality control within construction, distribution, transmission line, substation, and natural gas/public utility environments. Responsibilities
  • Visit crews in the field regularly to observe work practices and provide on-the-job training and coaching in safety, quality, and work methods.
  • Identify areas where additional safety, quality, or work methods training is needed and develop, schedule, and deliver targeted training programs.
  • Work closely with Area Supervisors to identify crews requiring further development and create structured plans to address safety, quality, and work method deficiencies.
  • Present safety, work methods, and quality training courses in both field and facility settings, ensuring content is clear, engaging, and compliant with relevant standards.
  • Evaluate employee and driver performance, providing constructive feedback and documenting strengths, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

  • Lead teams through change by building consensus where appropriate, making difficult decisions when necessary, and motivating and encouraging others to adopt best practices.
  • Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and mentoring to employees, challenging them to grow, supporting their development, and using mistakes as learning opportunities.
  • Set challenging safety and performance goals, prioritize tasks effectively, overcome obstacles, and accept accountability for results.
  • Prepare accurate, timely reports and documentation related to safety training, audits, and performance evaluations.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing, deliver presentations to various audiences, share information and ideas, and demonstrate strong listening skills.
  • Support accident, incident, injury, and illness investigations by providing technical assistance, helping to determine causes, and recommending corrective actions.
  • Identify and document proper and improper practices on natural gas job sites according to defined audit metrics.
  • Coordinate and communicate safety-related information across company and department lines to ensure alignment and consistency in safety practices.
Essential Skills

  • Ability to identify and record proper and improper practices on natural gas job sites in alignment with audit metrics.
  • Experience providing technical assistance with the investigation of accidents, incidents, injuries, and illnesses.
  • Proven ability to coordinate and communicate information across company and department lines.
  • Subject matter expertise in safety, training, and quality control within construction and utility environments.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to deliver clear presentations and produce accurate, punctual reports.
  • Ability to recognize problems, analyze complex issues, identify root causes, and make timely, well-informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, build consensus, and motivate and encourage others.
