Position: Mechanical Designer
Location: Irvine, CA - This is a 100% on-site role.
Position Description:
The Mechanical Designer will collaborate closely with the Mechanical Engineering team to define and develop aircraft mechanical components. Responsibilities include creating detailed CAD models, producing accurate 2D drawings, and preparing supporting documentation. Proficiency in SolidWorks and strong knowledge of 2D drafting standards and practices are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
  • Using CAD and actual aircraft, package electrical, avionics, propulsion, and mechanical subsystems into assigned airframe volumes.
  • Generate, release, and revise detailed CAD models, engineering drawings as directed.
  • Generate, release and revise documents supporting manufacturing, such as Work Instructions, Acceptance Test Procedure, and Bill of Materials.
  • Support fabrication, assembly, ground testing, and flight testing with hands-on troubleshooting.

Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience modeling, creating assemblies and 2D drawings using Solidworks and Solidworks PDM system.
  • 3+ years' experience generating engineering documentation (Acceptance Test Procedures, Work Instructions, BOMs, etc).
  • Hands-on experience integrating components across mechanical, electrical, and/or networking domains.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5.
  • Ability to clearly document designs, analyses, and engineering changes.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Experience with composite or lightweight metallic aircraft structures.
  • UAV or military aircraft experience.

Work Authorization Requirement:

Salary: $100,000 - $125,000 annually
Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
