What is the 35 7 rule for flight attendants?

The 35/7 rule for flight attendants refers to a guideline that limits crew members to working no more than 35 hours of scheduled flight time and 7 hours of duty time per day to ensure safety and well-being. What are flight attendants?

Flight attendants are trained airline personnel responsible for ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of passengers during flights. Their duties include conducting safety demonstrations, assisting passengers with seating and luggage, serving food and beverages, and responding to emergencies. They also provide first aid if necessary and enforce airline and federal regulations to ensure a safe flight experience for everyone on board.

Familiarity with airline safety procedures, emergency equipment, and reservation systems is essential, and some airlines require first aid or CPR certification. Exceptional communication, teamwork, and the ability to remain calm under pressure are crucial soft skills for this role. These qualities are vital to ensure passenger safety, deliver excellent service, and handle emergencies effectively during flights.

What are some common challenges flight attendants face during irregular operations, such as flight delays or cancellations?

Flight attendants frequently encounter challenges during irregular operations like delays or cancellations, including managing heightened passenger stress, adjusting service routines, and coordinating closely with the flight deck and ground staff for updated information. They must remain calm and resourceful, ensuring passenger safety and comfort while communicating clearly about evolving situations. Flexibility is essential, as schedules and crew assignments can change with little notice, requiring quick adaptation and teamwork.

Are flight attendants in demand right now?

Flight attendant positions are currently in demand due to the recovery of the travel industry and increased passenger volume. Airlines are hiring to fill staffing needs, often requiring customer service skills and certification in safety procedures.
