  1. Job Summary

The primary role of the Archives and Art Student Assistant will be to assist archives and art staff and contractors to successfully execute the transfer of the archives and art collections to Luther Seminary's new building and various partners. This work will include moving archival and art material, research to aid in the appraisal of archival and art material, and other areas related to the preparation and moving of archival and art materials. This position will aid Luther Seminary in being faithful stewards of their various archival and art collections. This position will report to the Head of Archives and Arts and is an in-person position. The ideal candidate will be able to begin this role in early September.
  1. Essential Functions
  • Aiding in creating a high-level inventory of archives and art collections
  • Identifying items in archives and art collections and providing appraisal recommendations
  • Moving archival and art materials throughout campus
  • Reboxing of archival material
  • Assisting in providing answers to research questions from users as necessary
  • Providing general archives and art department support
  • Other duties as assigned

This position requires a commitment of 4-5 hours per week of work, which is to be completed in-person sometime between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Required education and experience:
  • Current Luther Seminary student
  • Experience working with or willingness to learn about working with art collections
  • Experience working with or willingness to learn about working with archival collections
  • General knowledge of or willingness to learn about North American Lutheran history
