Roasting Operator 2 - Specialty Plant
Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Roasting Operator 2 reports to the Production Manager The primary responsibility of this position is learning the standard roasting and packaging operations within the manufacturing facility. The role will begin as a training position and within one (1) year, the employee must successfully and consistently demonstrate required core competencies as listed on the Roasting Operator - R2 Training Program to the satisfaction of the Roasting Manager. Upon successful completion of this program, the employee will be promoted into a Roasting Operator (R3) position.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • None

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Always be willing to learn how to operate all roasting equipment in the plant.
  • Always be mindful of and adhere to GMP's, Quality and Food Safety requirements.
  • Assist in keeping the plant in tour ready status, at all times.
  • Strict adherence to all company policies, procedures and safety rules.
  • The ability to learn and understand the processes involved in the roasting of coffee, safely and efficiently.
  • The ability to learn and understand how to perform minor maintenance procedures as relates to the department roasting, packaging and conveying equipment.
  • The ability to learn to operate a standing lift truck safely and become a certified operator
  • All other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must have basic reasoning abilities, to include:
    • Applying common sense in carrying out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
    • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability, beyond basic skill performance levels with Reading, Writing, Mathematical & Computer Functions, to include:
    • Ability to read, write and interpret basic correspondence, including daily production line sheets, safety instructions and any training materials (including safety instructions for forklifts and power jacks).
    • Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations: add, subtract and multiply using units of American currency and weight measurement, volume and distance.
    • Ability to operate basic office equipment: telephone system, desktop computers, fax and copy machines.
  • Must be at least hand jack certified or willing to train and acquire proper certification to prove safe operation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Prior experience with SAP.
  • Any forklift certification.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • The ability to safely climb up and down ladders, stairs and into forklifts.
  • The ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to use hand tools and fingering/handling to operate buttons/levers of equipment.
  • The ability to push 10lbs of force and pull up to 100lbs of force.
  • The ability to lift equipment or product up to 21lbs and with assistance up to 200lbs.
  • The ability to shovel product up 10lbs per shovel full up to 48'' high.
  • The ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, squat and other movements as needed to retrieve products.
  • The ability to reach up to 76'' high and forward 30'' to access equipment or product.
  • The ability to carry product with assistance up to 150lbs.
  • The ability to balance or walk on uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to successfully complete the pre-employment process.
