Job description

We are offering a $5000.00 Sign on Bonus for a talented Diesel Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution business in Hodgkins, IL  

Please note - We will be moving to a new facility in Granite City, IL as of 6/22/26.

You will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Complete repairs on engine products in a service shop
  • Perform maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools
  • Maintain detailed records of serviced vehicles
  • Adhere to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies
  • Ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products
  • Maintain own tools

  • Ability to troubleshoot with limited/no support from diagnostic tools
  • Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
  • Proficient knowledge in troubleshooting Cummins electrical and aftertreatment using Cummins Insite.
  • Proficient work experience in replacing internal components (head, pistons, liners, etc.).
  • Embrace the Cummins values and use them daily.
  • Reliable and a self-starter with a positive attitude that contributes to the team.
  • Customer focus mentality.
  • Follow and maintain the DOT requirements needed for this position if a CDL is held.
  • Union shop.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:
Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred)
