Job description

Cummings Electrical is looking to hire an experienced Electrical Estimator in Dallas-Fort Worth.

  • Review and evaluate project plans, specifications, bid documents, and other relevant materials to identify requirements for creating a bid proposal.
  • Calculate the cost of electrical construction based on a review and evaluation of available documents.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, and personnel from other departments to discuss and formulate estimates, and resolve issues.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors regarding changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Prepare estimates for management purposes such as planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
  • Attend job site walk-throughs with other estimators as necessary to ensure proper handling of any field conditions that may potentially impact construction, bids, or pre-construction designs.
  • Request quotes for materials and equipment from vendors and equipment suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with vendors.
  • Prepare bid documents, including specific scope letters for each project, evaluations with adjustments for buy-outs, labor rates, productivity, etc., and identify any inconsistencies, conflicts, or other issues.
  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience related to commercial and/or industrial projects Accustomed to estimating projects valued at $3 million and above Thorough knowledge of the electrical field with familiarity in materials and construction methods
  • Knowledgeable of the NEC and local codes
  • Experience using industry-leading estimating software
