In the bustling backdrop of San Diego's vibrant healthcare landscape, we're on the lookout for a Medical Laboratory Technicianโ€”an individual who marries curiosity with skill. Step into a rewarding full-time position nestled within a dynamic community hospital, and be at the forefront of delivering crucial diagnostic results to those in need. Your passion for precision will transform each sample into a vital piece of patient care, while being part of a supportive and driven team that appreciates the unique contributions of each member.

Your Role โ€“ What Awaits You

  • Conduct comprehensive laboratory tests across various specialties such as chemistry, hematology, and immunology according to established protocols.
  • Scrutinize test outcomes for reliability, troubleshoot issues, and carry out routine maintenance and calibration on laboratory instruments.
  • Assist in specimen collection and diligently prepare samples for testing as required.
  • Keep meticulous records of procedures, aid in training new staff or students, and champion lab quality standards.
  • Ensure a safe, clean laboratory environment while complying with all regulatory and accreditation guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Clinical or Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent allied health degree with preparation for ASCP/AMT certification.

Certifications

  • Obtain ASCP or AMT Board of Certification in Clinical Laboratory Science (CLS) within one year of your start date.
  • Maintain active certification throughout your employment.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with various healthcare teams.
  • Possess independent judgment and problem-solving skills necessary for navigating fast-paced situations.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational capabilities and attention to detail, particularly in quality control and accurate documentation.

Compensation and Benefits

  • An attractive salary commensurate with your experience and qualifications.
  • A comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • Generous paid time off starting from your first day, plus accrued vacation and holiday time.
  • Opportunities for continuous education and professional development.
  • A holistic rewards package emphasizing your overall well-being.

Your Work: Impacting Lives Through Science

Here, your analytical prowess shapes vital decisions made by physicians and enhances patient outcomes. The results generated in your lab could confirm a diagnosis, prevent unnecessary treatments, or detect health imbalances before they manifest. Your role is criticalโ€”your meticulousness ensures the accuracy that healthcare professionals rely on daily.

A Supportive Community Culture

This role extends beyond mere responsibilitiesโ€”it's part of a community. Join a team where collective improvement is a priority, engaging in seasonal huddles to reflect on practices and promote ideas. You will have the chance to join committees, advocate for process improvements, and mentor the next wave of lab talent.

Picture yourself taking morning walks along the stunning coastline, sampling fresh burritos at local eateries, or engaging in cultural festivals that bring the community together. The inviting atmosphere, combined with outdoor activitiesโ€”be it hiking in nearby parks or attending lively summer concertsโ€”enriches both personal and professional lives. Residents here embrace a sense of community, where neighbors support one another, mirroring the spirit of collaboration in the healthcare environment.

With an array of shopping avenues, mouth-watering culinary spots, and recreational areas, San Diego offers a lifestyle filled with adventure and relaxation. Housing costs are reasonable, ensuring that your well-earned income can fund trips to local vineyards, beach days, and cultural outings without breaking the bank.

Your contributions lead to quicker diagnoses, enhanced patient care, and sustainable practices that amplify health standards. The gratitude expressed by patients and colleagues alike goes beyond appreciation for accurate resultsโ€”it's a genuine acknowledgment of your vital involvement in timely care.
