Job Details: Senior Software Engineer - Unified Video Sustainment
Job Summary Cubic Digital Intelligence is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Unified Video (UV) engineering team supporting the sustainment and modernization of our Full Motion Video (FMV) platform. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the Unified Video ecosystem, including Feed Management Portal (FMP) and NetOps, while ensuring the platform remains secure, reliable, and scalable for mission-critical defense applications. The engineer will develop new capabilities, modernize infrastructure through containerization and Kubernetes adoption, automate deployment pipelines, and maintain security compliance across a Linux-based software environment. This is a full-time hybrid position located in Ashburn, VA with limited travel as required.
Essential Functions * Design, develop, maintain, and troubleshoot software supporting the Unified Video (UV) platform and associated applications including Feed Management Portal (FMP) and NetOps.
* Develop and maintain backend services and automation using Node.js, Python, PostgreSQL, and Linux-based technologies.
* Support migration of existing applications and infrastructure from Docker-based deployments to Kubernetes.
* Develop and maintain Ansible automation, GitLab CI/CD pipelines, and deployment tooling.
* Implement security updates, remediate vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance with customer security requirements and STIG guidance.
* Investigate and resolve software defects, system performance issues, and production support requests.
* Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams, DevSecOps, QA, and Product Management throughout the software lifecycle.
* Participate in software architecture discussions and recommend improvements to system scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
* Review code, mentor junior engineers, and promote engineering best practices.
* Contribute to technical documentation, design artifacts, and release planning.Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
* Minimum of 5 years of professional software development experience.
* Experience developing software using Node.js and/or Python.
* Experience working with PostgreSQL, Linux environments, Git, and modern source control workflows.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.Preferred Qualifications * Experience with Docker and Kubernetes in production environments.
* Experience developing Ansible automation and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
* Familiarity with video processing, streaming technologies, or Full Motion Video (FMV) systems.
* Experience implementing infrastructure automation, observability, or DevSecOps practices.
* Experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Codex, etc.) to improve engineering productivity.
* Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work independently.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience working in Agile development environments. Cubic Pay Range: $131,000.00 - $175,000.00 + benefits.
