Job description

H2M architects + engineers, a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm is seeking a Discipline Engineer in the Water/Wastewater Discipline to join our team in our Windsor, CT office.

In this role, you will independently complete complex development of engineering design, preparation of specifications, compile technical reports and other activities requiring the knowledge of standard engineering principles and techniques.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead projects utilizing technical knowledge and experience to develop the project team's overall capabilities.
  • Manages projects from planning to design and construction of water/wastewater distribution and conveyance systems including pipelines, pump stations, storage, and end-of-pipe treatment facilities.
  • Leads development of construction documents/specifications and handling engineering services during construction.
  • Meets established budgets and delivery schedules for each assignment; for project/task scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinates execution of projects with other disciplines.
  • Develops medium to large planning and design projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepares complete construction packages (including all deliverables) for the engineering, procurement, and construction of Water/Wastewater projects.
  • Creates and manages cost estimates and project schedules and will be responsible for completing design tasks within budget and on schedule.
  • Performs detailed engineering calculations & analysis and utilizes design software to solve complex issues.
  • Supervises and supports the work of others and mentors junior level engineer & design/drafting technical staff.

Education and Qualifications

  • 10 - 15 years' experience in the planning, design, and construction municipal Water/Wastewater.
  • Bachelors' degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering or related field of study.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
  • Experience in process design, treatment plants upgrades and pump station design.
  • Client relationship skills: including preparation and development of proposals and client management experience with a successful record of accomplishment, delivering a variety of engineering projects that meet or exceed the expectations of the client
  • Active in technical societies and trade organizations associated with Water/Wastewater (AWWA, WEF, ASCE, NGWA, etc)
  • Strong data analysis and technical problem solving.
  • Willingness to develop competence in a broad array of engineering related tasks
  • Ability to train and mentor junior level staff.
  • Successful track record of proposal writing and development.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • P.E. required.
  • PMP is a nice to have

The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $160,000 annually.
