About the Job
Now offering a limited-time $25,000 sign-on bonus!
Positions available at MedStar Washington Hospital Center.
Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures. Position patients for CT scans using immobilization and protective equipment as necessary.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist radiologist with imaging procedures starting IV's and injecting contrast if applicable.
  • Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
  • Evaluate CT scans for technical quality collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film transmits to PACS.
  • Charge procedures and supplies correctly.
  • Assists in the administration and administers various chemical substances to render specific organs or systems more opaque. Dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
  • Reviews patient charts and requests with the radiologist to ensure the proper examination and diagnostic results are obtained.
  • Quality controls all images maintains inventory and adheres to safety regulations. Participates in training of department personnel including students.
  • Load and operate power injections for contrast media administration.
  • Maintain accurate patient records.
  • Assist with providing orientation and training to new CT technologists.
  • Manage scheduling and patient flow on multiple interventional CT scanners.
  • Assist with research and development with CT equipment manufacturer to develop new CT software and new technologies when asked.
  • Participate in research initiatives and development of research protocols.
  • Monitor charging of CT procedures and supplies daily to ensure correctness.
  • Participates in inter or intra departmental performance improvement.
  • Accepts patients and assesses their condition to determine proper handling and special requirements. Explains and prepares the patient for the exam requested.
  • Relies on extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to obtain the maximum diagnostic image corresponding to body parts.
  • Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety department safety and specific job-related hazards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimal Qualifications
Education
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Current Maryland State License required (Clinton Location ONLY)

Licenses and Certifications
  • ARRT required
  • Certified Cat Scan Technologist required
  • CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required
  • Additional unit/specialty certifications may vary by department or business unit.
