Job description

Job Summary
Manages the damage and claims performance of the Automotive Distribution Centers within assigned Region, to meet company core values and competency and performance management goal expectations. Controls the vehicle damage investigation and reporting processes, while also working directly with the terminals to identify damage trends and reduce damages through data trends. Develops and manages a regional consulting approach to adjudicate claims through proper investigations. Provides direction to the contractor network ensuring CSX standards are met in the damage & liability processes.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate all damage claims from terminals within a defined region to assign monetary liability. Work with terminal managers daily to investigate damages to complete the major damage report (MDR) as required by freight claims and the manufacturers.
  • Work with manufacturers, TDSI, and Freight Claims and Damage to deliver real time data and trends identifying damage areas in order to reduce claims exposure for CSX and damages for our customers.
  • Work directly with TDSI ROMs to provide data and recommendations within their Regions aimed at reducing damages.
  • Identify processes to handle the reporting, tracking, and resolution of all inoperable units delivered on rail at TDSI terminals.
  • Work hand in hand with manufacturers and their agents to expedite repairs in order to reduce railcar dwell and improve terminal and fleet fluidity.
  • Work with each OE to develop and implement processes to expedite the handling of inoperable units.
  • Work with Freight Claims and Damage on adjudicating claims that do not reach the dispute resolution stage.
  • Work with contractors to gather any and all pertinent data and information in preparation for monthly claims dispute calls.
  • Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 5 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or Business/Strategic Management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree/4-year Degree
  • 2 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or Business/Strategic Management
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of process principles and practices, ability to think critically, and identify issues and propose innovative solutions.
  • Railroad Industry knowledge
  • Creative and strategic problem solving skills, as well as time management and prioritization skills
