based in Denton, TX.


Reporting to Sr Manager, Engineering in Denton, TX the Sr Mechanical Project Engineer is responsible for working within the manufacturing environment. Receiving direction from the Engineering Manager / Mechanical Team Leader to meet specific development and production schedules.


Primary Duties

  • Project & Technical Leadership
    • Serve as the mechanical engineering lead on new product development and customerspecific projects.
    • Own mechanical scope, schedules, risks, and deliverables for assigned projects.
    • Translate customer requirements and system specifications into robust mechanical designs.
    • Lead technical design reviews (PDR, CDR, DFMEA) and ensure design readiness for manufacturing.
  • Mechanical Design & Engineering
    • Design and validate precision mechanical and electromechanical assemblies including:
      • Gear trains, bearings, seals, housings, frames, and motion systems
      • Thermal management and structural components
      • Interfaces with motors, sensors, cables, and control electronics
    • Perform tolerance analysis, stackups, and fit/function verification.
    • Conduct and review engineering analyses (hand calculations, FEA, fatigue, thermal).
    • Select materials and manufacturing processes appropriate for performance, environment, and cost.
  • CrossFunctional Collaboration
    • Work closely with electrical, firmware, and software engineers to ensure seamless system integration.
    • Support manufacturing engineering with DFMA improvements, work instructions, and tooling needs.
    • Collaborate with supply chain on vendor selection, cost reduction, and part qualification.
    • Support quality and regulatory compliance (ISO, CE, UL, CSA as applicable).
  • Project Execution & Delivery
    • Manage technical risks, tradeoffs, and issue resolution throughout the project lifecycle.
    • Support prototype builds, testing, and validation activities.
    • Troubleshoot field issues and drive root cause corrective actions.
    • Ensure timely release of accurate engineering documentation (BOMs, drawings, change notices).
  • Mentorship & Continuous Improvement
    • Mentor and guide junior engineers and designers.
    • Champion best engineering practices, design standards, and documentation discipline.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across engineering and product development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred).
  • 5+ years of mechanical engineering experience in industrial, automation, or electromechanical products.
  • Proven experience leading projects or serving as a technical lead.
  • Strong proficiency with 3D CAD (e.g., SolidWorks) and PDM systems.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, castings, weldments, and assemblies.
  • Solid understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and mechanical fundamentals.
  • Handson experience taking products from concept through production.

Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with automated equipment, welding systems, robotics, or motion control products.
    • Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards for industrial equipment.
    • Experience working in a configurable or customerengineering environment.
    • Exposure to DFMEA, PFMEA, and structured product development processes.
    • Strong communication skills with ability to interface directly with customers.

Working Conditions

  • Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment 'PPE' when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
  • Moves transports, puts, or removes equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.; pushes, pulls products weighing up to 200 lbs. using provided safety tools.
  • May be exposed to varying weather during travel.
  • Domestic travel required approximately 10-25%.
