Job description

Position Overview

The Casting Operator - Gold & Platinum

The Casting Operator leads the department in producing consistent, defect-free metal castings that meet design and quality requirements while maintaining high efficiency, low metal loss, and strong collaboration with other departments. This role serves as a key link between design, production, and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production & Process Management

  • Supervise and execute all stages of casting: tree assembly, investment, burnout, metal melting, pouring, and devesting

  • Plan and schedule daily casting batches according to production requirements

  • Monitor casting parameters and ensure correct alloy composition and karatage

  • Control metal yield, weight loss, and re-melting ratios

  • Maintain cleanliness and discipline within the casting area

2. Technical & Quality Control

  • Optimize casting processes to minimize defects such as porosity, shrinkage, and surface roughness

  • Approve casting temperature, burnout cycles, and vacuum/pressure settings

  • Review casting samples and ensure adherence to design and quality standards

  • Coordinate with CAD/Wax and Finishing departments to resolve casting-related issues

3. Team Supervision & Training

  • Lead and train team members (casters, helpers, and machine operators) in best practices

  • Assign tasks and monitor individual performance and productivity

  • Promote continuous learning and adherence to safety protocols

4. Equipment & Maintenance

  • Ensure proper functioning and maintenance of all casting equipment (vacuum/centrifugal casting machines, burnout furnaces, etc.)

  • Plan preventive maintenance schedules and maintain inventory of essential spares

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain daily casting logs, yield reports, and metal reconciliation records

  • Prepare and submit daily/weekly casting performance reports

6. Coordination & Communication

  • Collaborate with CAD/Wax, Setting, Finishing, and QC teams for process alignment

  • Report issues and improvement plans to Production Manager

  • Ensure clear communication across shifts and departments
