As a Certified CS/SPD Technician, you will play a key role in how our operating rooms care for our patients asthewhole team relies on you to successfully set up the operating room.Certified CS/SPD Technicians receive ample support,trainingand education, including learning how tooperatethe latest,state-of-the-artprocessing equipment and using the newest sterilization tools and concepts.By taking on this role, you will have a major impact on patient care by helping to ensure the safety and health of the patient.

A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) variable shifts, including weekends and holidays.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide safe, efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, wrapping and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and distribution equipment.
  • Perform case pull functions.
  • Determine appropriate case carts to be built for specialty procedures.
  • Build case carts ensuring adherence to procedures.
  • Dispatch case carts to ensure availability for surgical/clinical procedures.
  • Perform record keeping, ordering, stocking and inventory control.
  • Scan, sort and inspect instruments for functionality and cleanliness and assemble instruments according to provided lists, wraps and labels.
  • Monitor and control the distribution of supplies and equipment.
  • Upon completing preceptor guidelines, perform preceptor duties and assist in educating non-certified technicians

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Sterile Processing Distribution Certification (e.g., CRCST, CSPDT, CFER, or CER)must be maintained
  • Military experience, such as Hospital Corpsmen (HM), Machinery Repairman (MR), Aircraft Maintenance Technician (2A3X3), Biomedical Equipment Specialist (68A), Small Arms Repairer (91F), considered
  • Ability to use Computerized Instrument Tracking System to perform assigned duties, including obtaining instrument count sheets, special handling instructions for instrumentation, documenting sterilization loads, and other tasks

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Basic computer skills
  • Two to five years of experience in Central Service/Sterile Processing areas

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting items that weigh 20-30 pounds.
  • Requires the ability to push a fully loaded cart weighing up to 200+ pounds.
  • Possible exposure to biological and chemical contamination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to within normal range.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $24.75

Maximum hourly: $24.75
