Job description

About the team + role

We are building an elite team, applying frontier technologies to the world's biggest financial problems. We're looking for bold thinkers. Sharp problem-solvers. Builders who are wired to make an impact. Robinhood isn't a place for complacency, it's where ambitious people do the best work of their careers. We're a high-performing, fast-moving team with ethics at the center of everything we do. Expectations are high, and so are the rewards.

The Crypto Risk team's mission is to identify, assess, and mitigate risk across our products, operations, and platforms, protecting customers and the firm as the business scales. We work to deliver an excellent end-customer experience while upholding the safety and soundness of the business, so Robinhood can keep expanding access to crypto responsibly. As Robinhood expands its operations in Canada, we are building an independent risk management function to support that growth.

As our new Crypto Risk Lead, you will own the design, implementation, and ongoing operation of an independent risk management program for Robinhood's Canadian crypto business.

This role is based in our Toronto, ON office, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week.

At Robinhood, we believe in the power of in-person work to accelerate progress, spark innovation, and strengthen community. Our office experience is intentional, energizing, and designed to fully support high-performing teams.

What you'll do
  • Implement and own Canada's independent risk management program, adapting Robinhood's global risk framework to meet Canadian regulatory expectations, including CIRO and the CSA, and keeping it current as that landscape evolves.
  • Lead risk assessments (including RCSAs) across Canadian crypto operations and manage the issue and incident lifecycle from identification through remediation and closure.
  • Evaluate new products, digital assets, and business changes for risk and control impact prior to launch, and provide independent risk opinions to the business and compliance teams.
  • Own risk reporting for the board and risk committees, including committee materials, key risk indicators, and issue and incident trends.
  • Support regulatory exams, audits, and assessments related to risk management in Canada.
  • Partner with Canada's compliance leadership and cross functional teams, including operations, engineering, legal, and global enterprise risk, to maintain a consistent view of risk.
What you bring
  • 7+ years of experience in risk management within financial services, crypto or fintech operations, or a comparably regulated industry, including experience building or independently running a risk program
  • Working knowledge of the Canadian financial services regulatory environment, with direct experience with CIRO, the CSA, or crypto specific regulatory frameworks strongly preferred.
  • Experience designing and implementing risk governance frameworks, policies, and procedures, including RCSAs, key risk indicator development, and issue management.
  • Demonstrated experience preparing materials for and presenting to boards, risk committees, or senior executives, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort using data, automation, and AI-enabled tools to enhance risk monitoring, analysis, and reporting, with appropriate governance and validation. A proactive, independent, detail oriented approach, comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy while staying closely aligned with global risk leadership; experience with GRC tools is a plus.
What we offer
  • Challenging, high-impact work to grow your career.
  • Performance driven compensation with multipliers for outsized impact, bonus programs, and equity ownership.
  • Top tier benefits to fuel your work, including supplemental health insurance, ancillary insurance, and mental health support programs.
  • Access to the best AI tools on the market and continuous AI skill-building for every employee, technical or not.
  • Lifestyle wallet - a highly flexible employer-paid benefits spending account expenses beyond traditional benefits such as wellness, childcare, learning, and more.
  • Time off to recharge including company holidays, paid time off, sick time, paid volunteer time off, parental leave, and more!
  • Exceptional office experience with catered meals, events, and comfortable workspaces.
  • Monthly commuter stipend to help offset in-office commuting costs.

Our team is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming interview experience for all candidates. If you require a specific accommodation during the application or interview process due to a physical or mental condition, please complete this Applicant Accommodation Form to notify our team.
