In terms of maintenance, cruise ship vessels have more needs than most ships, especially when far from ports and potential resupplies. As a maintenance technician, you may address electrical faults, repair HVAC equipment, solve plumbing problems, check and fix welding, and monitor known issues. You may also help troubleshoot other unexpected problems, perform regular maintenance to reduce the chance of failure for each system, maintain a stock of supplies and spare parts, and remain aboard the ship for the duration of each cruise. Maintenance technicians are often on call to work at any time, day or night, while guests are aboard the ship, though many work in rotating shifts to ensure safe working conditions.
