Job description:
The Environmental Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining the environmental management programs, including all document retention and corrective action reports at the Farmers Valley plant. It is also responsible for overseeing the environmental compliance and daily operational functionality of the plant's water treatment, waste management and storage tank systems, requiring both technical and operational knowledge of wastewater treatment processes and regulatory expertise in hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
Key Responsibilities
  • Title V air permit and associated record keeping and reporting requirements.
  • Entering maintenance work requests into the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
  • Sampling and monitoring limits in accordance with NPDES, Drinking water, Storm water, SPCC, FRP, and SPRP plans.
  • PADEP monthly DMR and Residual waste reporting requirements.
  • Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) requirements, and SARA reporting requirements.
  • The individual will accompany all state and federal inspectors during site environmental inspections.
  • Required climb, work at heights off landings and ladders,
  • Required to wear personal protective equipment designated by plant policies to include safety glasses with side shields, long sleeve shirts, safety shoes, goggles, respirators, etc. depending on activities, in accordance with Pennsylvania CROWN Act.
  • Expected to always work safely and to actively participate in the plants Safety and Health programs.
  • Provide direction to hourly operators as required.
  • Travel Required: <10%

Unique Knowledge and Experience
  • 5 years of progressive environmental experience.
  • An Environmental Engineering or Environmental Sciences Degree or equivalent.
  • Visible emissions certification in EPA methods 9, 22, 203A, 203B, and 203C required. If not current, certification will need to be obtained.
  • Working knowledge of Pennsylvania and Federal Environmental regulations.
  • Experience in a petroleum, petro chemical plant or refining facility would be an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment preferred but not mandatory.
  • Be proficient with project planning tools, technical writing and presentations.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Highly organized, able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, and comfortable working in a dynamic environment with rapidly changing priorities in order to meet facility needs.
  • Good computer skills including most Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Access, etc.).
  • Good interpersonal skills, especially the ability to work with and influence people.
