Gastroenterologist Opportunity โ€“ DeTar Healthcare System (Victoria, TX)
Build the regionโ€™s GI presence in a high-demand market

DeTar Healthcare System is seeking aย BC/BE Gastroenterologistย to establish a full-scope practice within our growing health system. This is an exceptional opportunity to step into a community withย significant unmet GI demand, supported by a strong primary care network and surgical team.

Position Highlights
  • Hospital-employed role with full administrative and operational support
  • No existing dedicated GI provider onsite โ€” general surgeons currently manage GI call and perform colonoscopies/EGDs
  • High community need with substantial referral volume ready on day one
  • Inpatient/Outpatient mix: flexible; proportions shaped by candidate preference and demand
  • Clinic schedule:ย Mon-Thu: 8am-5pm; Fri: 8am-12pm (half day)
  • Clinic volume: 20-25 patients per clinic session
  • Procedures:ย 
    • Current surgical team performs colonoscopies and EGDs; ERCP preferred but not requiredย ย 
    • Strong opportunity to expand GI procedural offerings and volumes
    • General surgeons will continue to share GI ER call; new GI can expect ~10 days of call per month
  • APP Support
    • Two NPs currently support general surgery and can support GI
    • Plan to add additional NP as volumes grow
  • Resident Mentorship: opportunity to teach Family Medicine residents who rotate through specialty departments
  • Modern practice environment with dedicated office space
  • 1099 PSA option available if preferred
  • Opportunity to participate in clinical research and clinical trials

DeTar Hospital Navarro is a 189-bed acute care hospital serving Victoria and the surrounding seven-county region in South Texas. Accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers emergency and trauma services, inpatient and outpatient care, surgical services, womens and childrens services, diagnostic imaging, rehabilitation, sleep medicine, occupational medicine, and specialty clinics.
