Job description

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Forging Press Operator to join our manufacturing team. This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and monitoring mechanical forging presses to produce high-quality forged components in a safe and efficient production environment. The ideal candidate has experience working with heavy industrial equipment, understands forging operations, and is committed to quality, safety, and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate mechanical forging presses following production schedules and work instructions.
  • Load raw materials and feed metal stock into forging equipment, including induction and rotary furnace systems.
  • Install, align, and secure dies, punches, and tooling for production runs.
  • Adjust machine settings to maintain proper stroke, pressure, cycle speed, and overall performance.
  • Monitor production throughout each run to ensure quality standards and production goals are achieved.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
  • Identify dimensional or quality concerns and make machine adjustments as needed.
  • Operate alongside automated and robotic material handling systems when applicable.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance, cleaning, lubrication, and minor troubleshooting.
  • Accurately document production output, quality inspections, and downtime.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all company safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience operating mechanical forging presses in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience working with industrial machinery.
  • Ability to read work instructions, production travelers, blueprints, and basic technical drawings.
  • Proficient using precision measuring equipment including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Experience with press tooling, die changes, and machine setup.
  • Ability to recognize quality issues and troubleshoot production concerns.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
  • Ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and work in a heavy industrial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with medium or large mechanical forging presses.
  • Knowledge of induction furnaces, rotary furnaces, trimming operations, and automated forging processes.
  • Experience working with robotic systems, particularly Fanuc robots.
  • Forklift certification or material handling experience.
  • Background in forging, steel manufacturing, flange manufacturing, or other heavy industrial production environments.
