Description

Cross Sound Ferry is actively looking for individuals looking to launch their maritime career and join our engineering department.ย  Unlicensed engineers will perform watch-standing duties and assist the Chief Engineer in day-to-day maintenance on engines and auxiliary machinery.ย  Candidates must be mechanically inclined and willing to learn.
We offer flexible work rotations at 4 days on/3days off or 8 days on/6 days off.ย  Every vessel is equipped with full living quarters including galley and common area.

Cross Sound vessels range from 1,400-9,600 horsepower and we encourage individuals to upgrade their licenses.
Responsibilities include (not limited to):

  • Standing routine watches and record pertinent data
  • Proper execution of start-up and shut-down procedures
  • Perform system troubleshooting and repairs
  • Complete weekly/monthly preventative maintenance
  • Safely maintain vessel systems to applicable regulations
  • Participate in mandated drills and emergency procedures as directed
  • General duties such as cleaning, painting, and maintaining the engine space
  • Transferring Water, Sewage, and Fuel
  • Proper communication with peers
Requirements:
  • Pass pre-employment drug test
  • Valid Transportation Worker Identity Credential (TWIC) or willing and able to obtain TWIC
