Position Description

Housekeeper - General cleaning duties of the Health Care common areas, recreational areas, and resident rooms. Depending upon the location, this may include general cleaning duties of the retirement apartments and houses on Arbor Acres campus.

Job Relationships

  1. Reports to and is supervised by the Housekeeping Supervisor and Director of Environmental Arts.

Housekeeper Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Clean assigned areas of health care which include common areas, recreational areas, and residential areas. Depending upon the location, this may include all areas of houses and apartments including, but not limited to; bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and all living areas.
  2. Proper use of personal protection equipment and proper use of all chemical and equipment needed to ensure a clean and sanitary environment for the residents, family members, and staff of Arbor Acres.
  3. Dust/clean all surfaces with proper cleaner and method.
  4. Vacuum all required areas.
  5. Mop all required areas.
  6. Make beds, change linens, empty trash, pay special attention to cobwebs and additional needs to ensure that health care is above Arbor Acres cleanliness standards to include both all areas (healthcare and houses/apartments).

Housekeeper Typical Physical Demands

  1. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  2. Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  3. Ability to walk extensively, to squat, bend, kneel, climb to reach 8 ft. ceilings, and reach above shoulders.
  4. Needs sense of sight, hearing, smell and touch.
  5. Ability to work safely with potentially hazardous chemicals.
  6. Must be able to successfully complete the WorkSTEPS Functional Testing program. This program assists in determining whether applicants/employees are able to safely perform essential job functions.

Housekeeper Key Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  1. Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of a 24-hour facility.
  2. Work habits must include: regular attendance, punctuality, teamwork, willingness to learn, initiative, dependability, and promptness.
  3. Ability to communicate with residents, family members, and other staff.
  4. Must be able to thoroughly read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  5. Ability to embody and uphold the corporate personality and culture of Arbor Acres with its emphasis on warmth, caring, generation of community, enthusiasm, achievement of excellence, and joy.
  6. Bilingual is a plus, but not required.

Minimum Education

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required.

Minimum Experience

Prefer two years experience but will consider training a proper candidate.
