Arclin USA is currently seeking talent for an Applications Engineer III position in our Hayward, WI location. Working within the Research & Technology department, the successful candidate will be the subject matter expert on all existing OSB/Industrial Overlays and their respective applications. Day to day tasks will focus on maintaining Arclin’s leadership position in the industry by focusing on efficiency and continues improvement of existing products. The successful candidate will work closely with suppliers, internal leadership and customers to grow and maintain customer delight through improved product consistency and performance. The successful candidate will interface with Arclin’s quality and process engineering group to resolve complex quality and process challenges.

Applications Engineer Job Responsibilities:

  • Full understanding of Arclin’s Wood Composites Technology and OSB/Industrial Overlays portfolio
  • Be the interface between R&T and process engineering, quality and procurement teams for existing products
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with the technical experts at suppliers
  • Optimize current product offering for quality and efficiency
  • Identify and qualify potential alternative raw materials in close coordination with Arclin’s procurement team
  • Improve current products by implementing feedback received from internal and external stakeholders through changes to the chemistry and final product properties
  • Aid in root cause analysis and resolution of complex quality concerns
  • Develop and employ new or existing methods and test strategies to ensure product performance
  • Provide technical support to other functional teams without technical expertise

Applications Engineer Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Material Science or Wood Science is highly desirable
  • Must possess a strong mechanical aptitude; must be willing to be “hands-on” with Laboratory & Production equipment
  • Understanding of coating formulation and polymer chemistry
  • Proven track record of moving ideas from the concept to commercialization
  • Design and implementation of experiments to optimize existing products and processes
  • Management of multiple projects with various timelines
  • Coordination of project activities to ensure that projects are delivered on time
  • Ability to understand and develop cost models
  • Utilize statistical analysis for product improvement
  • Application of design of experiments and six sigma tools to design, troubleshoot, and modify products
  • Demonstrate strong leadership potential
  • Manage day to day PO process and Capex spend for lab
  • Customer visits to facilitate smooth trialing process through the customer processes
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time

Physical requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in industrial settings for prolonged periods including standing in excess of 10 hour.
