Syngenta's Product Biology Team is seeking a Heartland Crop Protection Field Development Intern in Grand Island/Hastings, NE. This internship role will work alongside experienced R&D Scientists on meaningful projects that contribute to the development of crop protection products and technologies. You will be exposed to independent project work, as well as job shadowing and cross-functional opportunities, while also gaining hands-on experience in field, greenhouse, and/or laboratory environments and building technical, professional, and leadership skills.

As part of Syngenta's Emerging Talent Program, you will gain hands-on experience, exposure to day-to-day business operations, and opportunities to apply your academic knowledge to real-world challenges while developing your professional skills.

Accountabilities:

  • Build knowledge of Syngenta, crop protection, and the product development process.
  • Develop an understanding of Crop Protection Field Development’s role in research and development.
  • Support Crop Protection Field Development trialing activities, such as planting, treatment application, maintenance, in-field data capture, data summarization, and hosting field tours.
  • Develop an understanding of Crop Protection Field Development’s collaboration with local Syngenta commercial teams (e.g., Sales, Agronomy Services).
  • Learn processes and skills utilized to develop products and technologies.
  • Learn how to work independently, without direct supervision, and in compliance with Syngenta safety guidelines.
  • Identify two to three personal development goals and actively pursue them throughout the internship.
  • Manage an internship project under the guidance of Crop Protection Field Development Scientist(s).
  • Deliver a final summary presentation of the internship project/experience to stakeholders.
  • Participate in performance discussions with a supervisor to support continuous learning, growth, and professional development.
Qualifications
  • Current enrollment in an Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or advanced degree program in Agriculture, Biological Sciences, or another closely related field of study.
  • Continued enrollment in an academic program after the internship concludes (graduation date of December 2027 or later).
  • A valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to work outdoors and outside normal working hours.
  • Proficiency operating basic farm equipment is beneficial but not required.

Additional Information

Salary for this position ranges between $20 - $45 hourly.
