Team Lead, Field Application Support

Spear Bio has a unique opportunity for a hands-on, technical, and customer-savvy individual to grow and lead its Field Application Support Team, while ensuring exceptional engagement and support to customers. This is a highly visible growth opportunity to start as a player-coach, and grow into an executive leadership position.

In this dynamic, technical, and customer-facing role, you will lead the FAS team in delivering personalized customer training, workflow demonstrations, sample testing in the lab for customers, applications development, and technical support for our portfolio of neurodegenerative immunoassay solutions.

The Team Lead and Field Application Scientists are expected to develop deep technical expertise in Spear Bio's ultrasensitive immunoassay platform to expertly navigate, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues for customers. This role involves ~30% travel to customer sites throughout the U.S. (primarily East Coast), with occasional international travel. When not traveling, you are requested to work onsite in Spear Bio's HQ in Woburn, MA.

Responsibilities:
  • Expand the Field Application Support team and lead training efforts for external customers, internal Spear Bio scientists, and partner organizations on SPEAR UltraDetectโ„ข immunoassay technology and workflows.

  • Drive successful adoption of the SPEAR platform by ensuring the FAS team is effectively onboarded and trained to provide expert technical support to key customers during on-site product demos, training sessions, collaborative projects, and remote support.

  • Coordinate client sample testing for platform evaluations, data generation, and presentation of performance results to clients.

  • Collaborate across teams to develop new applications for current products, and generate data and technical collateral including application notes and conference presentations.

  • Improve workflow processes when troubleshooting customer immunoassay challenges by triaging issues, developing hypotheses, leading experiments and investigations with the team, and identifying solutions to ensure optimal product performance.

  • Track and address customer successes, inquiries, and complaints, to provide feedback for continuous improvement of products and technical support.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitive landscape and key product applications.

  • Partner with Product Management team to provide voice-of-customer feedback for product improvements and strategies that will drive adoption of Spear Bio products.

Requirements:
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, or Bioengineering

  • 4+ years of direct experience managing and coaching Field Application Scientists or Technical Sales teams

  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting complex customer assays and instrumentation for biomarker analysis (immunoassays strongly preferred; experience with "omics" diagnostic tests also considered.

  • Track record of first-author publications demonstrating technical expertise

  • Demonstrated resourcefulness in independently implementing new technologies and troubleshooting instrument or assay performance issues.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting scientific information clearly and concisely to diverse audiences

  • Experience with qPCR and liquid handling preferred

  • Knowledge of neurodegenerative disease research with existing network in drug development, academic, or CRO world
