Cro Developer information
What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a CRO Developer, and why are they important?
To thrive as a CRO Developer, you need expertise in web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript), A/B testing methodologies, and a solid understanding of conversion rate optimization principles, often supported by a relevant degree or certification. Familiarity with tools like Google Optimize, Optimizely, VWO, Google Analytics, and tag management systems is typically required. Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication skills help you collaborate with marketing and design teams to drive impactful testing strategies. These skills and qualities are crucial for improving user experience and maximizing website conversion rates, directly impacting business growth.
What are some of the common challenges faced by a CRO Developer when optimizing conversion rates across different platforms?
CRO Developers often encounter the challenge of ensuring that conversion optimizations are effective across various devices, browsers, and user segments. Balancing speed of implementation with thorough A/B testing and data analysis can also be demanding, as changes must be both technically sound and data-driven. Additionally, collaborating closely with designers, marketers, and analysts is essential to align technical solutions with broader business goals, which requires strong communication skills and adaptability.
What is a CRO Developer?
A CRO Developer is a specialist who focuses on Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) for websites and digital products. Their main role is to implement and test changes to web pages—using tools like A/B testing and analytics—to increase the percentage of visitors who complete a desired action, such as making a purchase or filling out a form. CRO Developers work closely with marketing and UX teams to identify pain points in the user journey and apply data-driven solutions. They typically possess skills in front-end development, analytics platforms, and user experience principles. By continuously optimizing websites, CRO Developers help businesses achieve better results from their online traffic.
What is the difference between Cro Developer vs Data Analyst?
| Aspect | Cro Developer | Data Analyst |
|---|---|---|
| Required Credentials | Web development certifications, knowledge of CRO tools | Data analysis certifications, proficiency in SQL and Excel |
| Work Environment | Digital marketing teams, e-commerce companies | Business intelligence teams, research firms |
| Industry Usage | Online retail, SaaS platforms | Finance, healthcare, marketing |
While Cro Developers focus on optimizing website conversions through A/B testing and user experience improvements, Data Analysts interpret data to inform business decisions. Both roles require analytical skills but serve different functions within digital and data-driven industries.

Job description
Range is creating AI-powered solutions to eliminate financial complexity for our members. We're transforming wealth management through the perfect blend of cutting-edge technology and human expertise. We're obsessed with member experience! We've built an integrated platform that tackles the full spectrum of financial needs-investments, taxes, retirement planning, and estate management-all unified in one intuitive system.
Backed by Google's Gradient Ventures, Cathay Innovations, and Scale Venture Partners, we're in hyper-growth mode and looking for exceptional talent to join our starting lineup. Every Ranger at this stage is shaping our culture and way of life-from former CEOs and startup founders to experts from leading hedge funds and tech companies.
If you're ready to build something that truly matters in financial services, bring your talent to Range. Here, you'll make a genuine impact on how people manage their financial lives while working alongside a team that celebrates wins, makes big decisions, and blazes new trails together.
About the Role
Range is one of the fastest-growing RIAs in the US, and our Growth team is responsible for building the acquisition engine behind it. If you're a performance marketer who thrives on ownership, moves fast, and wants to help build one of the most exciting fintech platforms in the US, this role is a good fit.
Owning day-to-day execution on Google and Meta, the foundation of our paid media channels, you'll work closely with our Director of Performance Marketing to turn data into decisions and campaigns into meaningful growth. This is a fast-paced, highly analytical role, ideal for someone with 3-5 years of performance marketing experience looking to get deeper exposure into how the growth function works at top-tier startups.
This role is based at Range's headquarters in McLean, VA, and follows an in-office schedule Monday through Friday. If you're not currently located in the area, relocation will be a contingency for employment.
What You'll Do
This is a hands-on role. You'll own day-to-day execution across Google Ads and Meta - pacing, bidding, audiences, creative, experiments - and translate the results into a clear story for the team each week.
Benefits
Range is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal employment opportunities regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity or Veteran status. As a company, we are committed to designing products, building a culture, and supporting a team that reflects the diverse population we serve.

This is a hands-on role. You'll own day-to-day execution across Google Ads and Meta - pacing, bidding, audiences, creative, experiments - and translate the results into a clear story for the team each week.
- Own campaign management end-to-end across Google Ads (Search, PMax, YouTube, Demand Gen) and Meta. You'll be the person who knows what's running, why, and how it's performing.
- Build and run a structured testing roadmap across creative, landing pages, audiences, and bidding. You'll communicate and implement a steady cadence of experiments that compounds learnings into real performance gains.
- Analyze large datasets to generate insights that inform campaign decisions and broader growth strategy.
- Own weekly performance reporting that the broader team uses to make decisions on budget, channel mix, and creative direction.
- Monitor platform updates, industry trends, and competitive activity to identify new opportunities.
- 3-7 years of hands-on paid media experience, ideally at a B2C, fintech, or DTC company
- Track record of personally managing meaningful paid budgets and a clear sense of what breaks at scale
- Fluent in Google Ads (Search, PMax, YouTube, Demand Gen) and Meta - you can navigate, structure, and rebuild accounts independently
- Funnel-first thinking. You don't just optimize CPL; you understand how upstream decisions affect lead quality, consult rates, and downstream conversion
- Strong analytical skills. Pivot tables and lookups are reflexive, and you can pull a story out of a messy data set
- Operational discipline - you launch carefully, document well, and don't let things slip
- Strong communicator who works well across creative, engineering, and product
- Fintech, wealth management, or lead-gen experience.
- SQL, GA4, BigQuery, or Metabase. We use these, and you'll move faster if you can self-serve.
- Landing page testing and CRO experience, especially devising and implementing A/B testing.
- Familiarity with Salesforce or comparable CRMs
Benefits
- Health & Wellness: 100% employer-covered medical insurance for employees (75% for dependents), plus dental and vision coverage
- 401(k): Retirement savings program to support your future
- Paid Time Off: Dedicated time to reset and recharge plus most federal holidays
- Parental Leave: Comprehensive leave policy for growing families
- Meals: Select meals covered throughout the week
- Fitness: Monthly movement stipend
- Equity & Career Growth: Early exercise eligibility and a strong focus on professional development
- Annual Compensation Reviews: Salary and equity refreshes based on performance
- Boomerang Program: After two years at Range, you can take time away to start your own company. We'll hold your spot for 6 months - and pause your equity vesting, which resumes if you return
