Job Description:
Parsons is seeking an exceptionally talented Senior Environmental Engineer to join our team.
In this role, you will lead and execute a wide variety of complex environmental engineering assignments, including the assessment, design, and implementation of remediation projects and treatment systems. You will apply advanced engineering techniques and analyses-often leveraging CAE/CAD and environmental modeling tools-to develop practical, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant solutions. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction sites is expected.
Responsibilities
  • Leads and performs complex environmental engineering tasks and particularly important technical work efficiently and accurately.
  • Plans, designs, and oversees soil, groundwater, surface water, and vapor intrusion remediation systems, including:
    • In-situ and ex-situ treatment technologies
    • Pump-and-treat systems
    • Soil vapor extraction/air sparging
    • Monitored natural attenuation and other remedial strategies
  • Develops remedial action plans, feasibility studies, and design reports in accordance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations.
  • Completes site characterization and data evaluation, including interpretation of environmental sampling data, hydrogeologic conditions, contaminant transport, and conceptual site models.
  • Extracts and interprets engineering information from CAD drawings; prepares engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
  • Prepares construction drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement, permitting, and construction of remediation and environmental infrastructure projects.
  • Frequently interfaces with other engineering disciplines, environmental scientists, geologists, construction, and other departments to deliver integrated project solutions.
  • Prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials, including remediation equipment (pumps, blowers, treatment units, instrumentation, etc.).
  • Reviews supplier drawing submittals and performs technical bid analyses for environmental and remediation systems.
  • Prepares and issues specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents for remediation systems, environmental controls, and related civil/utility work.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, environmental staff, and junior Engineers working on the same projects.
  • Ensures designs comply with applicable environmental regulations, industry standards, and Parsons' quality and safety requirements.
  • May be required to provide the seal and signature of the professional engineer, as appropriate, ensuring compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and ordinances.
  • May act in an advisory capacity to senior management on environmental and engineering-related matters, including risk, schedule, permitting, and constructability.
  • Supports permitting, regulatory interactions, and preparation of technical presentations and client deliverables related to environmental and remediation projects.
  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of related environmental engineering experience, ideally including:
    • Design and implementation of remediation systems and site cleanup projects
    • Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, state cleanup programs, or similar regulatory frameworks
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) registration or ability to obtain within 1 year strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in CAD and related PC software packages typically associated with engineering and environmental design (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, modeling and analysis tools).
  • Demonstrated experience preparing engineering design documents, specifications, and construction packages for environmental and remediation projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and interacting with clients and regulators.
  • Willingness and ability to travel to project, client, and construction sites as required.

Salary Range: $88,400.00 - $154,700.00
