Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Manager provide clerical support to assist in the overall operation of department and acts as receptionist to assist and direct patients and visitors.
Job Responsibilities and Requirements:
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA (% of Time)
Essential Functions: The Following are essential job accountabilities and performance criteria:
Position Accountabilities
1) Demonstrates the skills to provide clerical support in all aspects of the Radiology Department. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6) 60%
Criteria
A) Answers all phone calls in a friendly and timely manner, taking messages, phoning physicians and giving reports on patient's results.
B) Pulls films for conferences, daily lists, clinic lists, etc. always 2 days in advance.
C) Process films for reading- pull jackets, make/write on jacket and inserts.
D) Print accessions sheets.
E) Take down ER board.
F) Check films in/out as needed.
G) Wait on Drs at the window- following Target 100 standards of customer service.
H) Pulls films from the 10 day file- files films into the main file system and downstairs in the file rooms.
I) Processes red jackets/or films return (loose) daily.
J) Go through the misfits and put films through for reading - call for jackets to be returned to/from Record Master.
K) Clean film jackets out of the reading rooms as needed.
L) Process the films from Record Master daily- sent to correct location requesting films.
M) Get portable films from the ER daily/per shift.
N) Get or films and process for reading and check back in.
O) Answer the main office bell and enter patient orders into Meditech if needed.
Q) Utilizes the hospital computer system for all aspects of the clerical duties as when needed.
2.) Observes established departmental policies, safety, environmental, and infection control standards. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5) 5%
Criteria
A) Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
B) Adheres to hospital safety and infection control policies.
C) Reports faulty equipment to appropriate persons.
3) Assists Technologist when needed to help ensure patient care is delivered in a smooth and effective manner. (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) 5%
Criteria
A) Assist with transportation of patient if needed.
B) Watch patients if needed when the Technologist needs to leave the room.
C) Assists in moving patients on and off the stretchers as needed.
4) Attends departmental inservices and meetings as instructed by Supervisor. (1, 2, 3, 5) 5%
Criteria
A) Attends appropriate orientations.
B) Attends required in-services.
C) Attends departmental meetings or reads the meeting minutes that is send through the MOX system in Meditech.
D) Reviews education poster boards located in the department.
5) Performs other duties as appropriate and needed by supervisors. (1, 2, 4) 5%

A) Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working in all areas of the hospital.
B) Displays initiative and enthusiasm for non-routine or extra duties.

A) Reviews departmental QI, QA, & QC monthly during the departmental monthly meetings and by reviewing the posted information.
B) Provides data/ input to the Radiology management staff pertaining to the current departmental QI Teams projects.

Job Specifications
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High School graduate or its equivalent preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Radiology office experience preferred.
REQUIRED COURSE: BLS required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Exposure to blood and body fluid.
  • Exposure to blood borne pathogens and other biological hazards.
  • Subject to varying or unpredictable situations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to stand for and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 100 plus pounds using proper lifting and body mechanics.
  • Ability to move and transfer patients.
