Job description

We are hiring a Project Accountant for a well established commercial construction $200M organization recognized for its strong culture, team environment, and long term stability.
This high visibility role partners closely with the Controller and Accounting team to support project level financial operations across billing, collections, subcontractor management, compliance, and month end accounting activities.
The Project Accountant will play a key role in supporting the full project accounting lifecycle within a structured construction environment while interacting directly with project stakeholders and internal operations teams. This opportunity offers strong exposure to AIA billing, lien rights management, subcontractor compliance, and project financial reporting.
Responsibilities
  • Manage AIA billing and construction invoicing processes for active projects
  • Support Accounts Receivable activities, including collections and payment follow up
  • Process subcontractor payables while managing lien waivers and compliance documentation
  • Assist with month end close activities, reconciliations, and project financial reporting
  • Maintain accurate project accounting records and construction documentation
  • Partner with project managers and operations teams to support financial accuracy and project reporting
  • Support vendor and subcontractor onboarding documentation and compliance tracking
  • Utilize Excel and accounting systems to analyze financial data and support reporting needs
  • Contribute to process improvements and ad hoc accounting projects as needed

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of construction accounting experience required
  • Strong experience with AIA billing, construction invoicing, and project accounting processes
  • Experience with Accounts Receivable, collections, subcontractor payables, and lien waiver management
  • Strong Excel skills with the ability to work within accounting and project management systems
  • Experience with construction documentation management preferred
  • Viewpoint software experience preferred
  • Textura experience preferred
  • Associate degree in Accounting required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field preferred but not required
  • CRIS certification preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and ability to meet deadlines
