Job description

Description
At My Rights Law, we don't just process cases; we protect lives. We are a premier criminal defense firm dedicated to the principle that every person deserves a zealous, high-caliber defense regardless of the charges against them. We are currently seeking an experienced, powerhouse Criminal Defense Attorney to join our mission-driven team.
If you are a trial-ready advocate who thrives in the courtroom and believes that the "presumption of innocence" is a mandate, not a suggestion, we want to hear from you.
You will step into a dynamic role managing a diverse caseload of state and federal matters, ranging from DUIs and misdemeanors to complex, high-stakes felonies. At My Rights Law, you won't be stuck in a library doing research for years-you will be in the courtroom, at the negotiating table, and on the front lines of justice.
Your day-to-day will include:

  • Courtroom Advocacy: Conducting preliminary hearings, arguing evidentiary motions, and leading jury trials.
  • Client Empowerment: Navigating clients through the most stressful moments of their lives with empathy, clarity, and authoritative guidance.
  • Masterful Drafting: Crafting persuasive motions and legal briefs that challenge the prosecution's narrative.

Why My Rights Law?
We offer the resources of a large firm with the culture and mentorship of a boutique practice.
  • Mentorship & Growth: Work alongside seasoned trial attorneys who are invested in your professional development.
  • Innovative Environment: We utilize a tech-forward, streamlined approach to practice management so you can focus on lawyering, not paperwork.
  • Work-Life Synergy: We play hard and win big, but we respect that our attorneys are at their best when they have the balance needed to recharge.
  • Competitive Package: We offer a highly competitive salary, performance-based bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits suite (Health, 401(k), and Bar dues).

Responsibilities
โ€ข Complete legal research and prepare motions, pleadings, and briefs
โ€ข Draft correspondence, legal pleadings, motions, and briefs
โ€ข Argue motions in court on behalf of clients during legal proceedings
โ€ข Oversee paralegals, law clerks, and administrative staff
โ€ข Take responsibility for administrative staff relating to client invoicing/billing records, setting up meetings with clients and completing tasks
โ€ข Determine case strategies and solutions to serve clients' needs after analysis
โ€ข Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action
Qualifications
โ€ข Proficiency with legal case management software (e.g., Practice Panther, Clio, Filevine, or Smokeball) and e-filing systems for state and federal courts.
โ€ข Exceptional emotional intelligence and a high level of discretion when handling sensitive case details and interacting with clients facing high-stress situations.
โ€ข Ability to use Microsoft Office is required
โ€ข Strong knowledge of legal research programs such as Westlaw and Lexis products is required
โ€ข Decision-making, public speaking, problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and communication skills are a must
โ€ข Over 1 year of experience representing clients in a law firm
โ€ข Candidates must currently be a member of their local bar association - active member preferred
โ€ข Able to work independently while handling multiple files
