Job description

Position Description Harris County Precinct 4 seeks a Data Analyst to join our team. Reporting to the Sr. Manager of Strategy and Performance, the successful candidate will play a key role in supporting data-driven decision-making across the organization.

The Data Analyst will collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather, clean, manipulate, and analyze data, ensuring it is accurate, actionable, and aligned with strategic objectives. This role requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work with advanced data tools and techniques to help improve operations and financial transparency. Job Duties and Responsibilities: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.

Develop a deep understanding of Precinct 4's data needs and provide insights to inform decision-making across various departments. Clean, manipulate, and analyze large datasets to ensure data quality and integrity. Create and maintain dashboards and reports in Power BI or other data visualization tools to communicate complex data in clear, actionable formats.

Build and manage data models, ensuring proper relationships between datasets to support efficient analysis and reporting. Collaborate with finance and operations teams to provide analytical support for budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Apply advanced Excel skills to perform data analysis and build data models for forecasting and reporting.

Utilize Power Apps and VBA where applicable to streamline data collection and reporting processes. Perform regular audits of data to ensure accuracy and consistency across systems. Assist with the development and implementation of best practices for data analysis and reporting, ensuring high standards of quality control.

Stay current with new trends and technologies in data analysis and continually enhance skills and knowledge. Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data analysis to improve operational efficiency and support strategic initiatives. Work closely with other departments to ensure data is accurately collected, documented, and reported according to established guidelines.

Requirements Additional Requirements: Resume and Cover Letter. Education: Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, Finance, or a related field. Experience: At least 1 year of experience in data analysis, including experience with data cleaning, manipulation, and modeling.

Proficiency in Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, Power Query, advanced formulas, macros, advanced data visualization). Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large datasets.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficiency in Microsoft software applications including Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI. Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data management and analysis. Ability to work with large, complex datasets and clean/manipulate data to generate meaningful insights.

Experience with VBA and Power Apps is preferred but not required. Strong problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to think analytically and make data-driven decisions. Willingness to learn and develop new data analysis techniques and tools.

General Information Hours: Regular full-time 40 hours per week Salary: Depends on Qualifications Employment may be contingent on passing a drug screen and meeting other standards.
