The Position
Our bank client is seeking to fill a Chief Credit Officer role to be based in the Memphis, TN market. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and support of all credit department operations.
This position offers a generous base salary of up to $185K and an excellent benefits package. (This is not a remote position).

Chief Credit Officer responsibilities include:
  • Oversee the bank’s loan risk management process to monitor quality control and minimize losses.
  • Maintains loan policy and loan procedures to ensure adherence to sound underwriting best practices, laws, and regulations.
  • Stays current on banking regulatory changes, monitors industry’s best practices and economic trends, provides updates to other members of the team, and ensures that current practices and policies are compliant and appropriate to changing conditions.
  • Informs the President, Board of Directors, and Loan Committee of any material considerations affecting the loan portfolio or policy.
  • Develops and oversees the Bank’s internal credit training program, working with credit department staff and external resources. Uses strong management practices to hire, coach, and develop the credit team, ensuring that the team remains appropriately staffed.
  • Ensures loans are properly documented for covenant compliance as well as safety and soundness (via Loan Operations Department).
  • Oversees Impairment Analysis.
  • Reviews Loans prior to External Loan Committee meeting.
  • Development of loan packets.
  • Oversees stress tests.
  • Responsible for annual large loan review and annual review of loan policy.
  • Leads loan review and trains internal loan review.
  • Continuing education and/or training sessions, as required.
  • Maintains current employee information in the Disaster Recovery Plan.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from a 4-year college or university.
  • Ten or more years of related work experience must consist of a financial/credit analysis and lending.
  • Management experience required.
  • Heavy experience with C&I lending required.
  • Loan workout and SBA experience preferred.
  • Completion of formal bank management executive school or financial industry-related degree program preferred.
  • Ability to create and analyze credit presentations, business correspondence, loan policies, and loan procedures.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
