Senior Associate, Enterprise Valuation Group (EVG)

Capital One's Commercial Credit Risk team is seeking a highly qualified candidate to support the Enterprise Valuation Group. This team delivers consistent, high-quality valuations for all enterprise value-reliant deals across the Commercial Bank, driving critical insights for regulatory compliance, risk management, and financial reporting, while offering exposure to complex distressed valuations.

Responsibilities:

  • Create financial models using methods such as the discounted cash flow, comparable company, and comparable transactions methods
  • Review and evaluate financial projections to determine if the assumptions are reasonable and supportable
  • Read and spread financial statements, demonstrating an understanding of basic financial metrics
  • Conduct high-level industry research to understand key sector characteristics and trends
  • Draft valuation reports detailing key assumptions
  • Work independently on assigned valuation tasks with coaching and direction, demonstrating strong attention to detail

The Person:

The ideal candidate will be someone that is a self-starter with excellent communications skills. Additionally, they will have strong finance and valuation experience. Strong business judgment, analytical abilities, and presentation skills are essential. The ability to anticipate potential issues and proactively manage workflow is also key.

Additional Characteristics:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting or military experience
  • At least 2 years of work experience in finance, financial modeling, accounting, or business analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree or MBA
  • 2+ years of direct experience in enterprise valuation
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and AI assistants (e.g., Google Gemini)
  • Experience in data analytics
  • Familiarity with Capital IQ as well as other market intelligence online databases
  • Professional certification (CFA, CVA, ASA, or CPA) highly preferred, or significant progress towards a relevant designation (e.g., CFA Level I passed).
  • Knowledge of distressed valuation analysis, or exposure to litigation/bankruptcy scenarios

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

Chicago, IL: $87,700 - $100,100 for Sr. Risk Associate


McLean, VA: $96,500 - $110,100 for Sr. Risk Associate










Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
