Principal Risk Associate

As a Principal Risk Associate at Capital One you'll be responsible for working with business partners to identify and mitigate potential risks to Capital One. Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are the front line of defense to ensure our Company remains stable and profitable.

Principal Risk Associates at Capital One are highly motivated Risk Management professionals with excellent organizational and communication skills. They have a high level of exposure across lines of business and have the opportunity to create and implement innovative solutions to identify and mitigate potential risks to the Company.

We are currently seeking a results driven professional with outstanding problem solving skills and strategic orientation to join the Enterprise Risk Management team. Strong attention to detail, process management, and communication capabilities are essential for this role. This individual should feel comfortable navigating through the "grey" area and formulating problems and recommendations.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive process improvements aligned to enterprise risk management objectives, including creation of new risk processes

  • Lead or support projects specific to strategic alignment across risk identification, risk appetite, and metric processes

  • Perform analysis leveraging data and insights to define problems and identify solutions

  • Liaise activities across multiple teams to ensure alignment of priorities and strategies

  • Support governance activities, including management of controls, audit, exams, and data governance

  • Support reporting processes, including creation of executive level risk reports and presentation

  • Collaborate effectively with stakeholders and leaders across organization to achieve objectives

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of Risk Management experience

  • At least 3 years of experience supporting, partnering and interacting with internal business partners

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Risk Management experience

  • 3+ years of Financial Services Risk Management experience

  • 3+ years of Process Management experience

  • Ability to set direction, manage expectations and lead cross-functional projects

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $120,800 - $137,900 for Principal Risk Specialist


Richmond, VA: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist


Riverwoods, IL: $109,900 - $125,400 for Principal Risk Specialist









Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
