Job description

The Director, Head of Credit Card Business is a high-impact leadership role responsible for building, managing, and growing Alliant’s credit card business with potential for additional products over time. This leader will set the business vision, strategy, financial agenda, and performance expectations for the portfolio, driving member value, risk-adjusted growth, profitability, and a WOW member experience.

This is an opportunity for a strategic, analytically grounded, hands-on business leader who can translate market opportunity, credit strategy, financial targets, performance insights, and member needs into clear business requirements and execution priorities. The leader will work across a matrix of Finance, Credit, Marketing, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Partnerships, and other partners to design the business, define the operating and performance specifications, and ensure the organization executes against them. Success requires strong financial acumen, card line management proficiency, credit fluency, analytical rigor, matrix leadership, sound judgment, and the ability to create clarity, accountability, and momentum in a complex, evolving environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the unsecured card business strategy and multi-year roadmap for the business in alignment with enterprise objectives, market trends, member needs, and financial performance goals.
  • Serve as the business owner for lending performance, including growth, profitability, pricing, portfolio economics, risk-adjusted returns, member engagement, and competitive positioning.
  • Translate business strategy and analytical insights into clear requirements, operating specifications, financial targets, and performance measures that cross-functional partners can execute against.
  • Ensure resiliency of credit card line management, including portfolio segmentation, pricing and offer strategy, line assignment and management; balance growth, utilization, revenue optimization, loss performance, and lifecycle treatment strategies.
  • Lead matrixed execution across Finance, Credit, Marketing, Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, Analytics, and other partners to design, launch, enhance, and scale unsecured lending capabilities.
  • Own the full business lifecycle from concept and design through launch, commercialization, optimization, ongoing portfolio management, and continuous improvement.
  • Partner closely with Credit and Risk to ensure credit strategies, underwriting approaches, line management practices, approvals, losses, and portfolio quality are aligned with business objectives and risk appetite.
  • Monitor, analyze, synthesize, and report on financial, credit, operational, member, and market performance metrics to inform strategic decisions, identify performance drivers, and improve outcomes.
  • Design, compile, and present a business performance scorecard that provides clear, actionable visibility into credit card portfolio performance, financial outcomes, credit trends, operational execution, member engagement, and progress against strategic goals.
  • Lead go-to-market, positioning, and promotional strategies that support sustainable growth, member engagement, and market competitiveness.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team, fostering analytical discipline, collaboration, accountability, business ownership, and strong execution in a matrixed environment

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree with an analytical concentration in mathematics, science, business, finance, or related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of consumer lending, credit card, financial services business management, portfolio management, or related experience.
  • 3–5+ years of people leadership experience, with demonstrated ability to lead analytical, business, or cross-functional teams through complex initiatives.

  • 12 Years Product Development/Design, Product Management, Strategic Marketing including people management

Compensation & Benefits:

Typical hiring range:‏‏‎ ‎ $149,700.00 to $256,700.00‎ Annually. Actual compensation will be determined using factors such as experience, skills & knowledge.
