Job Title: Activities Assistant

Job Summary:

We are a Pediatric Dental office that is looking for an Activities Assistant. An Activities Assistant is expected to plan crafts, games, and other activities for our pediatric patients in the waiting room before & after their appointments. The ideal candidate will plan and implement engaging activities creating a positive and fun experience. This role requires excellent communication skills and a passion for working with children in both large and small groups.


Key Responsibilities:

- Planning, organizing, and executing crafts, games, art projects, contests, etc. on a 1-2 week rotation.

- Engage with clients to encourage participation and foster a welcoming environment.

- Collaborate with team members to develop new activity ideas and programs.

- Maintain a safe and clean environment during activities.

- Document participation and feedback to help improve future activities.

- Provide support to parents & families with varying needs and abilities.


Skills and Qualifications:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.

- Experience in recreational programming or related fields is a plus.

- Compassionate and patient demeanor when working with children, especially those with behavioral or special needs.

- Flexibility to adapt to the needs of patients and their family's.

Requirements:

An Activities Assistant needs to be flexible in a fast paced environment since the number of children in the waiting room will fluctuate throughout the shift. The ideal candidate will take initiative to direct children to the activities available, as well as ensuring that parents are aware of their role in providing supervision in the waiting room. This is a great way we can provide support to parents that need extra help. For example; one child is having a dental cleaning or treatment done and their sibling(s) does not have an appointment. The role of the Activities Assistant is to be another set of hands to keep siblings occupied and engaged in activities while the parent(s) help their child(ren) as needed.
