What is creative writing?

Creative writing is a form of writing that goes beyond the bounds of professional, journalistic, academic, or technical forms of literature. Instead, it emphasizes narrative craft, character development, and the use of literary tropes or with various traditions of poetry and poetics. Creative writing includes genres such as fiction, poetry, memoir, and scripts for plays, films, or television. After submitting their manuscripts, writers receive feedback and suggested revisions from editors to enhance clarity, tone, or narrative flow. Additionally, writers may participate in meetings or brainstorming sessions to align their work with publication goals or marketing strategies. This collaborative environment helps ensure the final product resonates with the intended audience.

Job description

Overview
Corporate Tools is looking for a Direct Mail Specialist to oversee our direct mail campaigns. If you've got a passion for sending creative, quirky mailers that make people think, "Wow, this is cool, neat, or whatever other expression you use when you come across something you really like," we want you on our team! This is a remote position, but if you're near one of our local offices, you're welcome to come hangout with us in-office as well. Our main offices are in Post Falls, ID, and Spokane, WA; we also have satellite offices in Austin, TX, and Salt Lake City, UT. You'll be working 40 hours a week and, of course, enjoy great company benefits.
As the marketing mastermind behind our direct mail campaigns, you'll work alongside our dynamic sales and marketing teams to create messages that catch eyes, spark curiosity, and - most importantly - get results. Your goal? To get people to fall in love with our brand, generate leads, and fuel some serious growth. You'll take the reins on developing, launching, and fine-tuning campaigns that hit home with both current customers and potential ones. And let's be honest, who doesn't love the joy of receiving something exciting in the mail?
Wage
Up to $80,000 / year
Benefits
  • 100% employer-paid medical, dental and vision for employees
  • Annual review with raise option
  • 22 days Paid Time Off accrued annually, and 4 holidays
    • After 3 years, PTO increases to 29 days. Employees transition to flexible time off after 5 years with the company-not accrued, not capped, take time off when you want
    • The 4 holidays are: New Year's Day, Fourth of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day
  • Paid Parental Leave
  • Up to 6% company matching 401(k) with no vesting period
  • Quarterly allowance
    • Use to make your remote work set up more comfortable, for continuing education classes, a plant for your desk, coffee for your coworker, a massage for yourself... really, whatever
  • Open concept office with friendly coworkers
  • Creative environment where you can make a difference
  • No dumb benefits like free dog walking on the weekends that snobby hipster places have to make you feel cool, but mathematically won't cost the company much money because you won't use it
  • Trail Mix Bar - oh yeah

Responsibilities
  • You'll oversee end-to-end campaign execution for our direct mail channel.
  • Analyze the target audience to understand their needs, pain points, and desires, tailoring your messaging to resonate with them.
  • Research industry trends, customer behaviors, and competitor strategies to keep campaigns fresh and aligned with market demands.
  • Craft attention-grabbing headlines and clear, concise calls-to-action that encourage immediate engagement.
  • You'll collaborate with engineering and data teams to create audience files, refine targeting lists, and develop advanced models for audience selection, including trigger- based campaigns to drive response.

Requirements
  • 2+ years experience in marketing-centric positions.
  • 1+ years experience with direct mail channel campaigns.
  • Experience with marketing strategies and tactics in either B2B or B2C settings.
  • Exposure to data analytic tools.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Be able to adapt your writing style and messaging to suit different platforms and channels, such as email, social media, and landing pages.
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with design software (Adobe Creative Suite, etc.) is a plus.
  • A genuine enthusiasm for channel marketing and direct mail.
  • You can write clear, concise, and persuasive copy that resonates with the target audience and have the results to prove it!
