Job description

Step into a vital role supporting students’ growth as a Special Education Teacher in a collaborative, innovative school environment. This contract opportunity runs from August 19, 2026, through June 14, 2027, and offers a chance to make a meaningful difference with a 35-hour work week in an engaging academic setting.

Three skilled Special Education Teachers are needed for onsite work. Two roles are available within a new pilot program at the high school level, where creative thinking and adaptability are highly valued. You’ll be instrumental in guiding students with Autism, executive functioning needs, and more severe behavioral challenges—some of whom participate in technical education. Your efforts will help prepare these students for future employment and independent living through practical, real-world skill-building.

The third position is at the elementary level, joining a collaborative team focused on supporting students with learning disabilities in reading, writing, math, and high-functioning Autism. Dedicated PT/OT professionals bolster the support system, and partnership among colleagues is a hallmark of this team.

Qualifications:

  • Current Vermont Professional Teaching License with one of the following: Special Educator Endorsement, Special Education Consulting Teacher Endorsement, or Intensive Special Education Teacher Endorsement
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive environment for all learners
  • Willingness to embrace flexible, creative approaches in the classroom
  • Experience supporting students with Autism, behavioral needs, or learning disabilities preferred
  • Fingerprinting required; approvals from recent school assignments accepted
