Job description


The Creative Director exists to cultivate, develop, and elevate the creative expression of UPPERROOM. This leader is responsible for inspiring creative excellence while building healthy systems, developing people, and translating the vision of the house into meaningful creative experiences across every platform. The Creative Director serves as both a visionary and a builder, leading designers, filmmakers, content creators, production teams, and creative partners toward a unified expression of UPPERROOM's mission. This role is not simply about creating beautiful content. It is about stewarding the message of the house with clarity, consistency, excellence, and spiritual discernment.The ideal candidate is a spiritually mature leader who can disciple creatives, strengthen culture, establish healthy creative processes, and execute high-level creative strategy without losing sight of the pastoral heart behind every project.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Creative Vision & Direction
  • Champion the creative vision across all UPPERROOM expressions.
  • Translate organizational vision into compelling visual storytelling.
  • Establish creative standards across digital, print, events, livestream, worship, and communications.
  • Lead creative ideation for campaigns, conferences, ministry initiatives, and brand storytelling.
  • Ensure all creative work reflects the heart, values, and mission of UPPERROOM.
Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the creative team.
  • Foster a healthy culture of collaboration, ownership, excellence, and spiritual maturity.
  • Conduct regular creative reviews and coaching sessions.
  • Identify strengths within team members and help them grow into their gifting.
  • Help recruit, onboard, and develop future creatives, contractors, and volunteers.
Creative Strategy
  • Partner with Communications, Marketing, Production, Worship, and Executive Leadership to shape creative direction.
  • Develop long-term content strategies that support ministry initiatives.
  • Identify new opportunities for storytelling and audience engagement.
  • Evaluate emerging platforms, technologies, and creative trends through the lens of ministry effectiveness.
  • Build systems that allow creativity to flourish without sacrificing execution.

  • Help prioritize projects based on organizational vision.
  • Ensure projects move from concept to delivery with excellence.

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating excellence across multiple creative disciplines.
  • Experience in branding, storytelling, content strategy, and creative direction.
  • Strong understanding of production, filmmaking, photography, and digital media.
  • Experience leading creative projects from vision through execution.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop creative professionals.
