Job Description

The Director is responsible for coordinating the studio operation on and off the air for Versant Sports properties with a focus on Golf Channel Studio shows.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct multi-camera live and live-to-tape studio-based programs
  • Ability to direct News, Talk, Sports and Special Event programs
  • Requires a creative eye and the ability to plan and direct the audio and video aspects of television programs based on the specifications and knowledge of television programming techniques
  • Collaborate with Producers on creative for at-home and remote studios.
  • Interpret scripts, block cameras and work with cast, crew and producers
  • Directing live shows without a script and minimal rundown support, especially during breaking news stories   
  • Good working knowledge of video switchers and editing
  • Lead the control room and studio technicians before and during any live or live-to-tape program to keep them informed of the show’s rundown, camera shots, effects, playback order and other specific commands
  • Coordinate technical crew schedules
  • Oversee the delivery and execution of all graphic and sponsorship playback elements
  • Participation in all production, editorial and technical planning meetings
  • Contribute ideas on how to improve all aspects of the production from creative to execution
  • Perform on-site surveys for studio remote shows
Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Show Director in a live television production environment
  • Experience in launching a broadcast or television program
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of broadcast and production technology.
  • Possess a high level of initiative
  • Must be a team player
  • Have exceptional oral and written communication skills
    Must be willing to take constructive feedback
  • Must be detail and deadline oriented
  • Must be creative and extremely organized and prepared
  • Possess strong storytelling skills and editorial judgment
  • Must have a strong work ethic

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed (flexibility in broadcast environment is imperative)
  • Must be willing to physically work out of our Stamford CT locations
  • Must be willing to travel if/when needed
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be 18 years or older

Qualifications:

  • College Degree or equivalent work experience.
