Job description

WBUR and its creative studio, CitySpace Productions (CSP), is seeking a driven, consultative Account Executive to sell sponsorships and branded content across WBUR’s broadcast, digital, events, and CSP’s production services. You will build revenue by developing new client relationships, expanding existing accounts, and crafting integrated proposals that leverage the full suite of WBUR and CSP capabilitiesfrom on-air sponsorships and digital campaigns to live events and custom-produced content.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development & Sales Execution
    • Prospect, develop, and close new business from local, regional, and national sponsors.
    • Manage a pipeline of opportunities end-to-end including outreach, discovery, proposal development, contracting, and closing.
    • Identify cross-sell opportunities between WBUR inventory (broadcast, podcasts, digital, events) and CSP (branded video, audio series, long-form and short-form content, event production)
    • Meet and exceed quarterly and annual sales targets and KPIs.
    • Attend networking events and aid in exhibiting at conferences to build new relationships and develop pipeline.
  • Strategic Account Management
    • Serve as primary client contact - building strong, trust-based relationships with C-level as well as marketing and communications decision-makers.
    • Develop customized partnership strategies that align client objectives withWBUR’s editorial mission and CSP’s production capabilities.
    • Manage post-sale handoffs and maintain client satisfaction through campaign execution and reporting.
  • Creative Proposal Development
    • Craft compelling, integrated proposals and presentations that articulate value, audience insights, measurement plans, and creative concepts.
    • Price and structure deals that maximize revenue while delivering results for clients.
  • Collaboration & Project Coordination
    • Coordinate internally to ensure accurate trafficking, fulfillment, creative approvals, and delivery timelines.
    • Work closely with CSP producers to scope, budget, and schedule custom content projects; ensure client expectations are met and production runs smoothly.
  • Measurement & Reporting
    • Work with AdOps to provide clients with clear performance reporting and post campaign analyses; use insights to recommend optimizations andrenewals.
    • Track and document opportunities, activities, and revenue in CRM; maintain accurate records for forecasting and finance.
  • Market & Audience Expertise
    • Stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape, and best practices in broadcast, digital, branded content, and event sponsorship.
    • Use audience data and research to tailor pitches and demonstrate value to prospective partners.

Required Skills
  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required.
  • 6+ years of sales experience in media, advertising, branded content, or related fields; experience selling sponsored content or production services strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales revenue targets
  • Strong consultative selling skills and experience building creative integrated media or branded-content packages.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; polished presentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with producers, project managers, and finance.
  • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred).
  • Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple accounts and projects simultaneously.

Preferred:

  • Existing relationships with local/regional advertisers or agencies.
  • Background in content production, video/audio storytelling, or event sponsorship sales.
  • Familiarity with nonprofit or public media underwriting rules and FCC/compliance considerations

Success Metrics:

  • Achievement of quota and revenue growth targets.
  • Number and value of new client wins and expanded client partnerships.
  • Client retention and renewal rates.
  • Quality of cross-sell adoption between WBUR and City Space Productions.
  • Internal stakeholder feedback on collaboration and campaign execution.
